hope Jumanji can outgross Spider-Man Homecoming for Sony's top 2017 release

I think it's basically a certainty at this point. It will pass Homecoming and enter the top 5 grossing films of 2017. Pretty incredible.

Peace,

Mike

The studio actually lost 28m on that one, it was budgeted to do 760m WW, it was expected to break even at 625m but it didn't achieve to get has good has an retention rate the studio expected and kind of flopped on home video.

MIB 3 and Angels&Demons loosing the studio moneys (while movies like The Other Guys made studio moneys) are 2 big example: We never know, people from the exterior, except from the most obvious case if a movie was profitable and for who.

I would take these numbers with a big grain of salt. Nobody outside the companies really knows the exact expenses and revenues.

NATM had 22.7 Fri-Tue (21.85 FSSM + 0.83 Tue) and added 59.5 more (2.62 * FSSMT) to it's run.

JUMANJI had a 37.6 Fri-Tue (35.2 FSSM + 2.4 Tue) and needs 96.5 (2.57 * FSSMT) more to beat GOTG2.

You know it's going to crush Homecoming, right?  I mean, it will get past that one in the next two weeks.

TFA did 75 mln after 33 FSSM, and 2.38 Tue.

NATM's legs are much closer to JUM than TFA. Even over the MLK weekend TFA's drop was 38% compared to 28% for NATM and 24.5% JUM.

any possibility at $400m?

If it behaves like NATM (calculating what it added off the Fri-Tue 5-day) then JUM2 gets ~392. But it has trended better than NATM so 400 is very much alive. JUM2 needs to keep that up as NATM continued showing strong legs. It's next 5 weekend drops were 30%, 24%, 33%, 10%, 35%. I think thanks to Disc Tuesdays the Mon-Thu trending for JUM2 must be better as it is so matching or being close to NATM's weekend drops will keep 400+ alive.

I haven't been keeping track of OS gross, at least not as closely as to guess what it could do by Sunday. :)
