Back in the day (oh 20 something years ago) she was a popular fan casting for that part. I believe Wizard magazine even supported that at one point, back when they regularly fancasted stuff.

Angela Bassett actually has a pretty good role in Black Panther. I'm all here for her making a comeback between 9-1-1 and now appearing in this monster success.

Storm's origin story is actually very interesting. I would like to see Marvel attempt a solo film one day. If Wolverine can have so many films to himself, other X-Men characters should too.
