I'm beginning to come around to the BP for #1 of the Year projection.

It would have to have one of the worst legs in the MCU to not get to $487m (#10 slot)
https://www.the-numbers.com/news/229020 ... Movie-Legs

The topic for this week will be BP's legs.

Calculating Sat to Mon drop, DP fell 53.4% (42.5 Sat, 19.8 Mon)

40.5 Mon will give BP a 38.5% drop from Sat (65.9).

DP then dropped 41.5% on Disc Tue 2 years back. I think BP will be 30-35% down on Tue for 26-28 if Mon is 40.5. If Mon comes in closer to 42 then Tue has a better shot at touching 30.

Beating Jumanji and GOTG2 on this coming Sunday cannot be ruled out. Week 1 will be close to 300 itself (242+28+13+12 = 295. Then only 85/-58% needed in 2nd weekend to beat GOTG2)

Phenomenon!

Also, Deadline’s industry experts have been on point so far. They said it might take out TLJ 4-day sum and it just might!

Ugh, I’m supposed to be writing but this is too fun to follow!.

What are you writing?

Ooh, thanks for asking. A funny, filthy erotic romance novel I plan to publish.

Wait, an actual novel? It'll never happen. You'll never finish it. (there, I gave you adversity so in future post-publishing interviews you can say people doubted you could do it but you did it...lol) :-P

No seriously, what inspired you? Relevant article here (I got the author a writing position there so I guess this is a shameless plug): https://www.the-numbers.com/news/228750830-Analysis-Why-Havent-There-Been-Fifty-Shades-of-Grey-Copycats

Wow. Those numbers would be insane. I was thinking that it would do 350 by Friday but then I thought, no people have work and school, so it might do around 18-20 instead of the 26-28 I too kinda estimated at first...

What a great time to be a movie fan, and an avid BO follower.

Feels like just yesterday we were talking about BP as a distant possibility, time flies

1 down. 1 more to go in March next year. I’ll be here for it.

It feels like yesterday while also feel like it’s been forever.

I’m not sure if I’m ready for big changes that are coming after this 10versary, but at the same time, incredible landmark success like BP right now got me excited for what’s to come.

That was sappy. Ignore me, I’m not entirely sober yet lol

For other culturally relevant films, that Wonder Woman Opening Weekend is really looking like a disappointment.  It had amazing legs but wow.  Only $103M or something like that.  Decent number,  should have been more.

No. $103m for WW was no where near a disappointment. It was tracking in the 60’s. First big female solo film. WW was an event.

Heads are rolling at WB right now.  We will see if it has any kind of effect at all.  Won't surprise me if Captain Marvel beats WW in critical reception and box office.

Why would heads be rolling at WB? Didn’t they already remove some people?

Lol at the Captain Marvel comment. I’d bet that Captain Marvel makes $150m-$200m less than Wonder Woman domestically.

Don't sleep on Captain Marvel. There is still a real hunger for the first female led MCU movie. I've been saying Strange numbers are the floor and I'm standing by that.
