That One Girl

BLACK PANTHER WEEKEND THREAD | Current Estimates - 202.4M 3-day / 242.6M 4-day | Record 40.167 Monday; more than TFA!

Recommended Posts

The OD:Preivew ratio is the same as CW. If the FSS behaved like CW then it gives 180.5 but accounting for better Sunday 185 makes sense. By Wed it will beat Logan/JL and DS either that day or on Thu.

Since I am bored, movies that made over 100M and had an A+ CinemaScore and their multi:

Wonder - 4.7x

Coco - 4x

Girls Trip - 3.68x

Hidden Figures - 7.14x (from wide release)

American Sniper - 3.9x (from wide release)

Lone Survivor - 3.3x  (from wide release)

Frozen - 5.97x (from wide release)

Argo - 6.97

The Avengers - 3x

The Help - 6.5x

Tangled - 4.11x

The King's Speech - 30.8 (from wide release)

The Blind Side - 7.5x

Up - 4.3x

Narnia - 4.47x

The Polar Express - 8.1x

The Passion of the Christ - 4.415x

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - 5.2x

Finding Nemo - 5.42x (including re-release)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - 2.96x

Monsters Inc - 4.6x

Remember the Titans - 5.5x

Toy Story 2 - 4.27x (from wide release)

Mulan - 5.3x

Gonna end it there because I am not that bored. But from the looks of things, bodes well for BP's legs. Lowest multi on there is a 2.96x.

Yeah, with essentially no real competition until the end of March (and really end of April/all the way to IW), it's going to slaughter the marketplace, especially with every indication it has insane WOM.

I mean at this point, can't really count out 600m/Top 5 DOM all-time. Not likely, but certainly not impossible either.

Are you telling me 600m dom is in the cards, well fuck it, 600M could be the minimum for BP's dom run ?

I'd say it has no really threatening competition until Rampage in two months. March looks filled with potential flops.

Admittedly I did think 80+ was happening today after the preview number, but 76 is still incredible of course. And this could always be a JW situation where it just keeps going up. Deadline was also projecting JW around this number at this time on its opening Friday and it ended up at 82 in the morning.

Avengers is really the only good comparison in that list. None of the others opened anywhere close to 200 in 4 days. 185 for the 3-day with a 3.0 multi like Avengers would be $555m total. Amazing!

Yeah RPO looks to be the only one that even has a chance and that looks pretty bad. Rampage is the only tentpole threat after that until IW.

Pretty much lol. Soon as I started listing them I was thinking to myself "these are all rubbish comparisons." I was in too deep at that point though. Never surrender.
