Tuesday's Numbers (IW 23.5) page 2

Recommended Posts

You guys are right about the tuesdays, me and my friends all paid 18$ per ticket at the AMC online, then we went to the front desk and got our prices cut in half for free easily. instead of paying around 110$ it was more like 50 bucks.

I think IW is going to only drop 7ish% and hit around 21-22mill Today

Now that is impossible.

It used to be the "Big 3" for me:

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

JURASSIC WORLD

MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS

Now I think it's the big two of TFA and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR since those two are in a class of their own from TLJ, JW, MTA and BP.

I'd be shocked if today hit $20M+. It means we would probably be in for a better 2nd weekend than TFA.

I'm personally hoping for around $18M, which would be a 23% drop.

Not just opening weekend, but opening 10 days, that sort of thing. Obviously Avatar and Titanic belong in there in terms of domestic total but they weren't juggernauts at release.

is 700M locked for BP now?

690 at the end of this week, probably hits over 3.3 for the weekend and then needs a less than 3 multiplier on the 12th weekend to make it. Even with the DVD release it look very good, but I could imagine a world still where it came slightly short.

Edit: I can also imagine a world where it makes a run at Avengers adjusted total, but that’s pretty outlandish still

Id say Jurassic World is between the two juggernauts (TFA/IW) and the follwing movies (TA1, FF7, AOU, HP:DH2, TLJ, BP). Dont forget its Worldwide opening was only like 4m less than TFA (i know, JW had China, but still. It was the first movie to gross 500M+ Worldwide in 1 weekend after all). JW stood at 987M after 10 Days worldwide. It wasnt as big of a monster as TFA/IW, but it should be placed ahead of the rest as well imo.

Doesn’t look great for Panther having a top 5 shot this weekend. Maybe if Rampage loses a lot of theaters, but it’s PTA isn’t that bad and the new releases this week don’t need that many screens.
