North Shore Cinema Update

Ant Man and The Wasp is running 30% behind Homecoming ($82.4M), 38% behind Ragnarok ($76.1M OW), 48% behind Fallen Kingdom ($78.22M OW), 47% behind IT ($64.5M OW), and 50% behind JL ($46.3M OW).

Well, here’s the thing this has less showtimes than all of them except IT but it seems showtimes are final since they added one showing, giving it four total also Fallen Kingdom is not at the same point in time, and AMATW and all the other comps are a day ahead. TBH I think this is probably in that $75M-$83M OW range given the comps, presales kind of died down here. I don’t see $90M anymore, unless hype really goes up.

Now seems like the perfect time to suck myself off.

The tracking was right

Early buzz shows “Ant-Man and the Wasp” eyeing a domestic debut between $70 million and $80 million over the July 6 weekend

About what I expected Ant Man 2 to end up. It'll do well in the coming weeks, but Ant Man in general just doesn't have the same spark as some of the other Marvel characters.

Supporting roles in other films for him from now on!

There was a reason why the Gods abandoned us this weekend. They wanted to get away from the incoming bomb as fast as possible

#NotAnEvent #ItsOver

The MCU should just cancel all of their upcoming releases. They’re done after this.

The multiplier isn't that far off from Spider-Man: Homecoming from this same weekend last year ($50M Friday, $117M weekend).

I mean, sure, but SMH still had a noticeably better IM off of a 50M OD (2.3x IM vs AM2's 2.25x). And SMH was the 6th live-action Spider-Man movie. One would think that the 2nd Ant-Man movie would be less frontloaded than that. Even accounting for the fact that it opened one day after the 4th of July, I really did think that the movie would have strong walk-ups and would be on par with Homecoming. Not really as it turns out.

Still a good number, but.... not gonna lie, after defending it so much from the "duhterriblenumbah" dudes, I now too admit myself to be a little disappointed that it wasn't a bit better than that. Mostly because of how frontloaded it was.

star wars and marvel cancelled within two months of each other. no wonder disney were so desperate to buy fox. their slate is DIRE. they need some of that deadpool money.

We're seriously getting concerned over an A- Cinemascore? That's a thing we're doing now? Okay then.

Damn, I guess we should have been concerned.

Will be touch-and-go on whether it can beat Solo if that weekend holds.

Summer 2018: the summer where we found out the sky is indeed not the limit for both of Hollywood's two most trusted brands at the moment (Star Wars and MCU).
