Remember when Deadpool 2 dropped 65% on a holiday weekend and still managed to get a 2.5x+ without the full effect of summer weekdays?

It is not all about legs or multipliers (or increase/decrease for a sequel).

Deadpool 2 was already a huge hit after 10 days.

Me too. Ant-Man is still going to hit 200M.

Well, to be fair...

1. DP2 got the full effect of summer weekdays for its audience - college students - from day 1 of its open.  Not too many 6 years olds are going to DP2, so it didn't really matter when K-12 schools let out - just colleges.

2. Solo opened on that holiday weekend, taking all premium screens right away.

3. Solo opened on that holiday weekend, also taking a large part of the planned audience away.

4. DP2 then had some "dead" weekends to recoup box office until Incredibles 2 - very few movies released after were aimed at its prime audience.  This weekend and the next few are not as kind to Ant-Man 2.

That being said, I can't imagine Disney not doing everything in its power to push Ant Man 2 to $200M, including double-billing with Christopher Robin next month.  But that's probably its reachable goal...we're not gonna see some crazy legs for this movie that some hope...

Ant-Man will recover and will be a hit but I really hope this brings overzealous MCU fans back down to earth.  You had some believing that every MCU film was going to make 400mil domestic after the success of Black Panther and Infinity War.
