I think it looks really good, but I’m genuinely concerned about its breakout potential. It has stiff competition practically every week, and one of the things Shazam 2 has made me think about is whether Covid accelerated the “disappearing from cultural memory” of late-2010s media.

 

I think it’ll do well, but not some insane sequel breakout. Thinking 60/200 right now, with around 450 worldwide.

Still think the first one was the kind of perfect alchemy that feels impossible to repeat. But  the trailer does look great.

The first one was greatly helped by the holidays. I wonder how this will survive a crowded June.
