Moana

Noon

About 50% full. We don't get crowds like that often.

Trailers

Hidden Figures - which got a surprising amount of positive reception. Nice.

Rock Dog

The Space Between Us

Beauty and the Beast #2

Sing #1

Cars 3 (I heard some wails from the children)

Very receptive crowd. Cheers and applause at the end.

Moana
November 23, 10:00am, ~200 people
Sugarloaf Mills.

Not that bad of an experience, considering the amount of small children in the audience. Laughter and some chatter throughout the movie. Applause at the end. Kids were shouting "Maui" on the way out.

I don't usually make a note of trailers, but I saw that Hidden Figures had a trailer at Moonlight and Moana. The kids version was more upbeat, of course.

During my showing:

- Beauty and the Beast got almost zero reactions

- Cars had a lot of reactions, "They're making a new one?" "Did McQueen die?" "CARS!!!" "That was dark"

- Hidden Figures had a few laughs

- Sing... SOOOOO many laughs and SOOOO many people whispering that they want to see it

- The short had the best reaction with the father in front of me whispering to his kid about the message of the short, a 12 to 13 persons group of teens behind me talking about how it was basically an Inside Out 2.0... and my little brother asking me about when Moana was going to end -_- "It didn't even start yet"

Deduction: my brother and all the kids are obsessed with Sing and want to see it during the holidays, my brother and a few other kids hated Moana, and teens love Disney and Moana! :D

December 2, 2016.

Kubo and the Two Strings

No trailers at this student auditorium. About 25 people in attendance.

I mostly groaned at the comedy in the movie, but lots of people chuckled. I noticed that some audience members were astonished when they showed behind the scenes footage in the credits.

Arrival

1:40 PM

1% full. Just me. Maybe 2% if you count the theater employee who came in and lingered for about a minute twice.

  • Valerian
  • Split
  • A Cure For Wellness (I thought this was Split at first)
  • Passengers
  • Live By Night
  • I feel like there was another one but hell if I remember

Again....just me. I laughed out loud once? But I was mostly just engrossed.

Easily the most interesting crowd report of all time.
