charlie Jatinder
Since I am doing it now, MCU UK to DOM gross ratio. Though Canada also has increasing trend and ER make some results bit skew in different direction. Will do that some other day. The ratio is DOM gross (in USD) / UK gross (in GBP). Phase I Iron Man - 18.6x The Incredible Hulk - 16.9x Iron Man 2 - 14.9x Thor - 13x Captain America: The First Avengers - 18.6x Avengers: Assemble - 12.1x Phase II Iron Man 3 - 11.1x Thor: The Dark World - 10.2x Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 13.6x Guardians of the Galaxy - 11.3x Avengers: Age of Ultron - 9.5x Ant-Man - 11x Phase III Captain America: Civil War - 11x Doctor Strange - 10x Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 - 9.5x Spider-man: Homecoming - 11.3x Thor: Ragnarok - 10.2x Black Panther - 13.8x Avengers: Infinity War - 9.6x Ant-Man and the Wasp - 12.3x Captain Marvel - 10.5x Avengers: Endgame - 9.7x Spider-man: Far From Home - 10.5x Phase IV Black Widow - 9.7x Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - 10.4x GoTG are the best performing solo franchise in UK. The ratio has gone down with time which shows the growing MCU base in UK.

It’s not always as easy as that. Most PLF companies won’t allow a rival PLF in the same cinema as one that has one of theirs installed (which is why you’d rarely see a cinema with both Dolby Cinema and IMAX), and they generally only allow one IMAX or Dolby screen per cinema too to give it more of a “exclusive” feel. I know from past experience that IMAX didn’t like it when the cinema I worked at was considering installing two SuperScreens with Dolby Atmos into the two biggest screens either side of the IMAX. We got away with the larger screens, but they blocked us charging the SuperScreen pricing (not that I’m complaining there!).
Krissykins
Marvel has 2 films in the top 30 of all time here. So does DC. Star Wars has 5. Harry Potter 2 as well, one kicked out by No Time To Die. Bond has 4, and 3 of them will be top 5. (Mamma Mia has 2 in the top 20 haha)
Krissykins
On a side note, while looking at these lists: The Full Monty was the biggest film of all time in the UK at one point (before Titanic) and grossed £52.2m. In 1997. When tickets were £3.54. With a 15 certificate. for a film about unemployed Dad’s who decide to strip. What a cultural phenomenon.
Agafin
Thanks everyone for the data. Man, seeing that number for The Force Awakens brings back memories. I can't believe it's been 6 years. Does anyone know why TFA was so ridiculously successful in the UK? Yes it was popular all across Europe but the UK is the only place I'd consider it's run more impressive than even US/Canada. No movie has come within even sniffing distance of it ever since (at least in US/Canada, Endgame looked at one point like it stood a chance against TFA). charlie Jatinder
Star Wars in United Kingdom Gross and US/UK ratio A New Hope - £17,046,000 (18x) Empire Strikes Back - £13,509,000 (15.5x) Return of Jedi - £12,303,000 (20.5x) The Phantom Menace - £51,063,811 (8.45x) Attack of Clones - £37,235,880 (8.1x) Revenge of Sith - £39,188,065 (9.7x) The Force Awakens - £123,017,325 (7.6x) Rogue One - £66,010,513 (8x) The Last Jedi - £82,676,770 (7.5x) Solo - £19,433,465 (11x) The Rise of Skywalker - £58,267,965 (8.8x) I have excluded re-releases for purpose of ratios. TFA wasn't outlier over-performance, just the general performance of Star Wars in UK. The 10x ratio that usually is cited to say TFA did $1.2B equivalent business in UK is slightly off, the normal ratio is more like 8x. Following Star Wars trend of middle film being best performer, TLJ was best performer relative to US performance.
