UK Box Office Thread

I think Bond will hold up pretty well this weekend.  Despite losing out on PLF screens altogether, the showtimes seem very frequent so still a ton of screens to meet demand. Average price will be lower, but I still think a 40% drop at most.  Might be wrong, but we’ll see.

Dune looks way busier today than yesterday in my city. I’m seeing it in an hour in IMAX (sorry…LIEMAX). Still, at least I’ll get the 1.90:1 presentation over the 2.35:1 regular screens are getting.

Those of you lucky enough to get the variable 1.43:1/1.90:1 IMAX show - don’t talk to me. Lol.

More than likely. I can imagine the original plan would have been to have the first film with the next bond come out next year for the 60th anniversary.

CoVid destroyed everything. But, what would have been the finales of NTTD if it wasn't delayed. I meant if it opened on last year.

It's seem like they can not planned out in 60th anniversary (Impossible).

If I remember right, the original plan was for NTTD to come out in November 2019, that would give 3 years to get a film ready for the 60th Anniversary of Dr No next year.

The Spy who loved me went 3x previous best. That's more surprising. Probably to do something with tickets I suppose.

Spy Who Loved Me feels like a combination of box office exploding after Jaws in 75, plus it's one of the most iconic films of the series here in the UK, especially the Esprit that changes in to a submarine.

Bond performance om OW in UK

(Source:Variety)(rental is 30-40% of Box office)(I can't found all,just a few)

From Russia with love(£2700 rental in London first week,all-time record, original OW record in UK was Gone with the wind)

Goldfinger(£ 1,7000 rental in London cinema ,It was even six times higher than the original record:From Russia with love, not only in UK

Goldfinger also broke Worldwide opening record,Guinness book report that Goldfinger is the fastest grossing film of all time ,overtook Ben-Hur,it broke OW record everywhere include North America,France,Mexico,Germany,Italy,Taipei,Japan,HongKong,South Korea,Singapore......)

Thunderball (even more successful than Goldfinger)

and I check For your eyes only,Diamonds are forever,The spy who loved me,Moonraker ,Live and Let die all broke OW record in UK at their time,if we add Spectre, means that Bond at least broke UK OW record for 10 times, truly impressive

Oh we definitely don't include Spectre. That was an opening week not opening weekend.

No Imax or Dolby, but the Glasgow IMAX shut down during lockdown.

The SuperScreen and 4DX have certainly sold seats, but nothing near to selling out, even on opening day.

ComScore just tweeted to say that Boss Baby 1 opened with £8m here, that’s crazy. Sequel in for a steep drop. Blade Runner 2049 opened to £6m, which again is surprisingly big (the same as Venom 2).

Boss Baby had a seven day opening plus previews, it's not a like for like comparison.

We'll probably have a new Bond actor confirmed by the end of next year, then a couple of years after that we'll get the next film

Next is the 60th anniversary of the film series so there's hope that we may get a that major announcement. Craig was announced October 2005.
