Also, Matt Reeves - a man who made great films with mo-cap monkeys - just cast one of the best actors in that age range as Batman, so I don't see him going anywhere anytime soon. BVS was more of a Batman film than Civil War was a Cap film. The character has fallen out of popularity with the new generation. Also the fact that he hasn't had his own solo movie yet, despite it being the era of superheroes, further points to the fact that he's less popular nowadays.
