This seems fun. Universal's commitment to producing movies with wacky concepts recently (this, Violent Night, M3GAN, Cocaine Bear) is something to be admired.

Yeah the film seems closer to "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein" then the Bela Lugois "Dracula".

Will this end Universal’s fun run of Violent Night, M3GAN & Cocaine Bear, or will it breakout?

The studio seems confident in it so far (magazine covers, early festival screenings) and the trailer always gets good reactions when I see it at the movies, so I think there's certainly room for a breakout, especially when it'll be the first horror-adjacent title - and the easiest to sell to a broad audience of all the April ones (The Pope's Exorcist feels dumpy and the very gory nature of the Evil Dead franchise is bound to limit the appeal for Rise) - since Scream.

Is this even really a horror? It looks like a straight up comedy with a whacky iteration of the Dracula character.

I get where you're coming from though.

It's like GHostbusters...a comedy with some horror elements.

But I would defintnly class it as a comedy.

From all the trailers I have seen, it's playing it for laughs.
