That's because OUATIH and The Farewell weren't allowed to contend for the WGA though. 1917 getting in as likely as Booksmart getting in.

I guess but WGA usually have atleast a 3/5 success rate of predicting the nominations. so 1917 could still sneak in.

top 5 could be something like

Hollywood

Parasite

Marriage Story

1917

Knives Out/The Farewell

I think Knives Out is a lock though. Its been doing much quite well at screenplay precursors. 5th spot's between 1917 and The Farewell.

was right in another thread that DGA and/or Director's Branch were too snob to nominate a CBM director (ask Nolan and Coogler). But I thought they would go for gerwig due to Globe backlash not another guy (Waititi). I guess outrage culture's impact is fading.

Nolan did get a DGA nod for dark knight.

Lol, if anything Philips getting in here would mean that his chance of getting nominated for Best Director would be zero. On the other hand, this means Joker's Best Picture win chances are dead. Last time a BP winner didn't get a DGA nom was Driving Miss Daisy.

Joker was never gonna win on prefferential ballot.

The PGA noms more or less looks like the inevitable Oscar lineup (one or two out of Ford v Ferrari, Knives Out, or Little Women will miss the morning of).

Thinking DGA will match as well, with a chance of Taika getting replaced by Phillips. Although I guess Jojo Rabbit could be the perfect candidate for a movie that overperforms in nominations but ends up winning nothing on the big night.

sike! Parasite needed this win (not sure how it lost cus it was literally the most circlejerked film by critics all year). I guess CC are just a sheep for the globes after all

Bong got tied with Mendes for director but that seems like a random one off cus the DGA will almost certainly go for Mendes.

Parasite is probably winning editing then. Three of the last five editing-drama winners won editing at the Oscars.

PGA is tonight!

I'm seeing a scenario where Parasite wins the PGA but still fails to win best picture, mostly because voters will be reluctant to award it a best picture prize twice in the same ceremony (since it will win best foreign), and this would be Parasite's final obstacle if it wins the PGA.

@lorddemaxus @CoolioD1 who do you guys think will be the frontrunner in this case? if Parasite is to lose best picture, is it back to 1917 vs Hollywood
