Chile yearly top 10

  1. Toy Story 4: 3.190.000 (#1 all time)
  2. Avengers: Endgame:  3.096.000 (#2 all time)
  3. The Lion King: 2.435.000 (#3 all time)
  4. Joker 1.571.000
  5. Captain Marvel: 1.369.000
  6. Spider-man: Far From Home: 1.092.000
  7. How to Train Your Dragon 3: 1.050.000
  8. It 2: 864.000
  9. Frozen 2: 824.000 (still on release)
  10. Aladdin: 812.000

Dragon Ball Super: Broly was so close. It was #11 with 807k admissions, missed by only 5k.

If Chile didn't have socail problem recently ,I belive Frozen 2 and Joker can take the higher place

Man, TLK kind of whooped Endgame in Europe, didn't it.

I think Lion King is #3 all time behind Avatar and TFA in EMEA, Endgame is #4. TLK grossed 520m from the EMEA countries listed on Mojo, and Endgame did 465m (real EMEA numbers are at least 10m higher for each movie).

In terms of Euro majors TLK won in France, Italy and Spain, Endgame won in Germany and the UK.

That was completely expected though, Europe is Endgame's worst region while it is TLK's strongest region. Live Action films like TLK, Alice and BatB routinely outperformed MCU biggies, nostalgia is a major factor in Europe. Also Live Actions perform very very well in the smaller Euro countries like Sweden, Norway, Netherlands and Switzerland, that's where TLK really pulled ahead of Endgame

Frozen 2 was definitely hit hard. Joker though at least had two solid weeks before the protests got going, rough guess, but I dont think it lost more than 100k - 200k, so it wouldn't have passed TLK to move up a spot either way

EDIT: I stand corrected

Joker would probably be around 2 million without the social uprising. Chile is a very leggy market and many avoid seeing a movie in the first week because of restrictions on discounts. It's true that it wouldn't have beat TLK though.

Frozen 2 was still affected but less so. Is going to end near Spider Man/ HTTYD3 when it had the potential to do CM numbers.

Forgot about Titanic you're right. Official EMEA numbers are 560m for TLK and 535.5m for AEG. Endgame just barely edges out Skyfall for the #5 all-time in EMEA.

I assume it goes

Avatar

Titanic

TFA

TLK (560m)

AEG (535.5m)

Skyfall (520m)

Skyfall did amazing business in Europe, and although the pound and euro have fallen ~14% and ~20% respectively since its release, inflation makes up for the currency depreciation when comparing it to AEG (I know ATP inflation has been rather high in parts of Europe, in the US ATP has only increased ~10% since 2012 when looking at BOM's numbers).

Its so difficult to foresee anything topping Avatar/Titanic. As a region, EMEA has lagged significantly behind Asia (in dollar terms LatAm has hardly grown as well), and EMEA movie going is essentially flat/slightly down compared to 10 years ago, with increases in emerging europe, central asia and Africa helping to offset losses across the majors. I genuinely believe Avatar will have the crown indefinitely

Avatar had some of the most favourable ER, ATP in $ in Germany is still higher for Avatar than for any other movie.

Highest ATP in € ist TLJ with €11.77, which would translate to $14.1 (from 2015-2019 december 2017 / January 2018 had the most favourable ER €1≈$1.2, a year earlier (RO) or two (TFA) it was like €1≈$1.05-1.10).

Avatar had ATP €10.14 would translate to roughly $14.2 (tried to take somewhat average ER during it's run, as they dropped towards the end)

Just for comp reason TFA was €11.32 would be roughly $12.25.

And Titanic was in a totally different world admissions wise, in Germany it still after all this years is the highest grossing movie (in € (or DM to €)), in dollar it's Avatar, due to the ER being really bad before 2004 and after 2012/2013/2014.

For a movie to top Avatar, ER would need to return to 2008/2009/2010 rates for both € and £ and maybe even DK, NK and SK (scandinavian currency) (they seem kinda bad too right now).

EMEA is mainly (UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Benelux, Scandinavia, Austria and Switzlerand) developed markets that don't really grow and markets like Russia have really big ER problems.

@Jedi Jat do you know EMEA dollar numbers for Avatar, Titanic and TFA, cause BOM numbers are kinda stupid as they randomly towards the end of TFA's run took like $20M away from the UK due to ER drops (Brexit referendum).

Are you sure that Skyfall has grossed less than AEG in Europe? Because its UK gross is really insane!

And how much has Harry Potter 8 grossed in Europe? Is it near to AEG and Skyfall?

This made me realise how Endgame run was halted in middle East due to Ramadan starting from 5th May.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, after having amazing first week and 2nd weekend, Endgame dropped like a rock in Indonesia. I think it's also due to Ramadan. Meanwhile, Aladdin, riding its excellent WOM, had unusually great legs, thanks to Eid holiday.
