stealthyfrog
The second video game movie boom has begun. Quote Cabin Fever and Hostel director Eli Roth is set to direct the movie adaptation of Borderlands, the action video game franchise, for Lionsgate. Emmy-winning screenwriter Craig Mazin penned the script for the project, to be produced by producers Avi Arad and Ari Arad through their Arad Productions banner, and Erik Feig, who oversaw development, through Picturestart. The action RPG shooter franchise from developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K most recently unveiled the Borderlands 3 version in September 2019. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/borderlands-movie-works-eli-roth-lionsgate-1280134 Edited May 28, 2020 by stealthyfrog
LOGAN'sLuckyRun
No, no, no... I can't die like this... Not when I'm so close... And not at the hands of a filthy bandit! I could have saved this planet! I could have actually restored order! And I wasn't supposed to die by the hands... of a CHILD KILLING PSYCHOPATH!! You're a savage! You're a maniac, you are a bandit, AND I AM THE GODDAMN HERO!!
dudalb
Well, guess Ari Arad has to do something since Marvel Studios managed to get rid of him...
SLAM!
I'm excited for this. Eli Roth is eccentric and I can see him making a good film out of this. When Lionsgate notices blockbuster potential, they give it their all (Hunger Games, John Wick, etc.).

I can see Blanchett play someone in their 40s but Lilith (in the first game at least) looks like she's in her mid 20s at most.

Pretty clear the producers and director have decided to go in a different direction with Lillith. Other thing is you can make this movie on a reasonable budget. marveldcfox
Studios have been taking these videogame adaptations seriously, but haven't yet had a slamdunk. I mean a 80+% on RT and big box office. Sonic broke the curse to some degree, but still couldn't do 400+.

You could drive three hours east into the Mojave desert, and find locations perfect for Pandora. I am convcned the game desgingers based the abandoned mines where much of the game takes places on abandoned mines in the Mohave.
