Wonder if they'll do a Cineworld Screening here in the UK, maybe in few select locations, to try and build buzz.

I've been seeing posters crop up here in the very North of London and they're really pushing the "One of the best superhero movies of all time" quote.

I seen one of the posters this morning too!

UK release just moved forward a day to Wednesday 14th.

given that it Father's Day weekend and federal holiday Monday, anything below 120m would be meh

Are you kidding? This is a movie that was close to being shelved completely.  The fact that it's opening in theaters is already a win.

I don’t know if it was ever gonna be shelved but most people had pretty low expectations for this. Once the trailer came out things changed a bit but ya no one was expecting much for this. I was hoping for an opening similar to black adam.

I doub t, with how much it cost,  shelving it completly was ever a serious option.

Shelving the movie was only a last resort option if Ezra’s situation reached the movie studio equivalent DEFCON 1. And even then I doubt WB actually considered it seriously, and it was more likely a move to get Ezra to cut their shit out and go get help. The chances of them dropping a $200+ million movie was less than 5% at best, especially with the test screening reactions.

This movie was always going to be released, but Ezra's career is finished. No insurance company wants to take the risk on him with his kind of history, which means studios aren't going to hire him anymore.

Yeah pretty much. Best case scenario is that Ezra comes back with some indie/direct to dvd stuff a year or two from now, but then being in big budget stuff is not happening for the foreseeable future.

This movie was never going to be shelved, that was absurd internet hyperbolic exaggeration.

Miller is also not going to be recast if the film is as positively received as expected and EM performance is praised so long as EM stays on the straight and now. Is what it is. I know that the bigger virtue signalers out there may not like it but such is life. There is an enormous list of celebrities who have done MUCH worse than Miller and their careers were just fine. Be an adult and realize people both make mistakes and sometimes learn from them. If EM is a well-received lead star of a mega smash franchise tentpole?

EM is not going anywhere.

There are already a few reactions online. But I'm not gonna post too much.

Ya there’s really no point, this is mainly hardcore dc fans seeing it tonight. I know others are seeing it as well but from what I saw it was mainly fans.

Reviews will be the next thing that helps boost sales after the initial sale starts tomorrow.

The problem with Miller is a bigger one for WBD: They're unstable. Sure, they may be "quiet" now, but so were they from 2020-2022 from when they choked a woman and then started assaulting people on Hawaii. No matter how much money this movie brings, you do not do business with a person whose behavior you absolutely can't predict. It isn't  even a matter of ethics, it's a matter of practicality and business. And also, Miller is NOT the reason this movie would make money; the IP is the king here, actors like Miller are disposable, no reason to stay with them when they've proven to be an unreliable business partner.
