Oh I'm not denying people make fun of him on the internet but i don't think the average moviegoer says no to a movie cause they see leto on the poster or name, outside of cruise/gibson i don't think celebrity scandals really impact the bottom line

This gives a range of $5.5-6.5M. Guess South-west is overindexing like Venom 2. I think $5.5M+ is likely.

The films which over indexed in Harkins comps are suggesting $5.5M and Eternals will be around $5.6-5.7M after ATP adjustments. So yeah, let's go $5.5-5.75M.

FINAL SOLD NOTES: "Final sold" is the number of tickets sold for the movie in question at stop of tracking while "% of final" is the percentage of Secrets of Dumbledore's current tickets sold versus that final number.

PRE-SALE NOTE: No Time to Die tickets had been on sale for four days more than Secrets of Dumbledore has been at this at this point in tracking while Shang-Chi, Dune. Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Morbius's tickets have all been on sale for one more day than FB3.

Shifted over to T-x and... not too bad at all considering every other movie was on sale for at least one more day.  Another nice day of sales, all things considered, IMO.

Did remove the "Extremely Unofficial" FB2 comp though since there is a 14 day difference in pre-sale length making the comp utterly unusable.  Will think about bringing back in sometime late next week.

How is Ambulance doing so poorly? Like, is it going to open less than Snake Eyes? Mortifying

Gyllenhaal is A-list and Bay still has juice left too, I don't get it

Bay's last non-Transformers film to cross 100M was Pearl Harbor over 20 years ago. Pain and Gain, even with significant starpower, only opened to 20.2M. Adjusted for inflation only gets it to like 25M. It's not a good track record to have.

Universal seems to be dropping the ball with all of their spring releases. Ambulance, Northman, and the Bad Guys are all tracking terribly.

I'm looking forward to seeing Ambulance but I'm not expecting it to be more than a mid-level performer. The fact a major studio gave the green light to a 90s-esque thriller with limited star power (Gyllenhaal is a respected actor but has never had a consistent box office track record) from a once-powerful director whose best days seem to be behind him vs. it landed on a streaming service feels like a minor win for diversity at the multiplex in 2022.

Gyllenhaal is damn near box office poison and original films are hit/miss but if Universal didn't stick it in a lame release date, it could have done a bit better. It's high-concept, walk-up friendly, and has appeal of PLF. Only 40m budget. I said before, I didn't like April 8 for this

Bay's non-Transformer films recently:

Jan 2016: 13 Hours- 16.1m OW/52.8m DOM/69.4m WW

April 2013: Pain and Gain- 20.2m OW/49.8m DOM/81.2m WW

(The Island in July 2005: 12.4m OW/35m DOM/163m WW)

Low-mid teens opening is what most were expecting anyway

Just happy Universal has no issues with cranking out non-IPs and this didn't get stuck on streaming like 6 Underground
