To clarify, Puss' Early Access numbers tally up to 467 tickets. And compared to Sing 2's 1,408 tickets, that's...0.332x of the film's 1.6M gross. So...531K. Early Access is always faulty and hard to determine when it comes to final opening/final gross, but I think it shows, at least now, that it's not as anticipated as Sing 2 at the moment. Could change of course!

Not much change here in the overall picture, still a very strong preference for PLF, but changed the second graph to show that on a per show basis, standard 3D and 2D are basically selling in equal amounts. (Now there are more than ~2x as many 3D shows, so overall 3D sales are 2x the standard 2D)

Also did a spot check for Friday, and did find that despite the continued ~2x ratio in shows, sales are much closer: 231 3D vs 201 2D

 

One other thought to add: along with the PLF preference, there continues to be a strong skew towards the prime evening ~6P-830P time, which in some cases does appear to be affecting sales patterns, with the massive running time limiting which options are available during that window. While I have my suspicions (biases?), am curious to see how tickets sales redistribute once those PLF and prime evening shows are filled up: that is, how much of demand is just pushed to less desirable shows/formats vs rolled forward to ensuing days?

Tampa/St Pete T-18 Update:

 

 

After a week of sales, starting to get a bit interesting. The popular PLFs - IMAX and especially Dolby - are getting pretty full, so not all that much room left for growth for Thursday (at least before 11pm, where sales are weak), and the PLF 3D share will likely drop below 50% fairly soon (though overall PLF still accounts for 2/3 of sales). So what are people buying instead?

 

A good weekend for standard 3D vs 2D, but interestingly that was driven mostly by the less busy (and non-PLF) theaters picking up steam, and not from people "settling" for 3D shows at the PLF locations, where instead PLF demand looks to be rolling forward into the weekend. Could just more on-the-spot advance sales over the higher foot traffic weekend, or advertising creating more GA awareness, but will see if that continues at next update.

 

One other tidbit: at least in this market, sales look to be very couple (2 seat) heavy, with far fewer single or group (family) purchases. Don't know what that means (yet), but though it was worth mentioning

I hoped for a bit better jumps but the numbers are still ok at the moment.

The Whale has so far no showtimes in my theaters but in the AMC Lincoln Square. It had today 192 sold tickets for Thursday, December 8 and 136 sold tickets for Friday, December 9.
Nice numbers.
Comps: Racing in the Rain's final numbers were 85 sold tickets for Thursday and 139 sold tickets for Friday (on both days in 6 theaters).

Zola had on its release day 114 sold tickets in 5 theaters.
