The first Avatar got two Kids Choice Awards nominations and the toys are sold next to the Minions at Target. It's a kids movie.

Avatar was designed for people aged 10 to 100, that's why it made all the money. It's not a "kids movie".

The fun thing about discussing whether something is a “Kids ______” is that sometimes people mean “intended for kids (among others) to be able to enjoy and engage with” and sometimes people mean “primarily targeted at kids and therefore simplistic lower quality fare which adults should be vaguely embarrassed to like too much” and of course one usually doesn’t bother to distinguish clearly between those two very different concepts because that takes all the fun out of trolling people with the term in the first place.

2.06x Eternals first day of sales- $19.80M

0.77x Top Gun: Maverick first day of sales - $14.86M

Ideally ATP should be higher but Harkins has lack of 3D screens, so majority shows and sales are in 2D. 3D only makes around 35% of total sales and half of them coming in 2D PLFs.

2D - 393/51498 - 195 shows
3D - 70/7941 - 65 shows
3D HFR - 255/12075 - 59 shows
IMAX 3D - 362/1245 - 3 shows
Cine1 & Cine Capri - 1073/9192 - 28 shows

Spread of sales for weekend is excellent, FRI making 80%+ of THU and SAT almost same.

Does Violent Night have a good shot at $20m then? Saturday here is going to be deeeeeead as England are playing Senegal.

Doesn't look like it judging by presales. Maybe not even 10M. But I'm still confident we can pass at least double digits.
