interiorgatordecorator
Besides the distributor presentations + screenings, is there anything else happening during cinema-con. Are the doors to the convention center just closed till 6:30 pm when the sony presentation begins?

There's presentations by others associated with theaters - like the projector makers, 3D vendors, in cinema advertisers. And there's also talks by industry leaders and experts about the future of exhibition, new trends and stuff like that. It's like any other industry conference where you will hear talks by renowned people in the field, only difference is that the field here is movies and exhibition.

Although last time they didn’t even show a poster or footage despite the film being finished a year prior. I’m sure they’ll just focus on Top Gun. We gonna get article written about that or is most of it going to remain secret?

Maybe some, maybe not. Like any other conference -- it's intended for people working in that field, and many pay organization/conference fees/dues to be there. You are not entitled to know everything that they get access to, nor is the "research" sometimes ready for public dissemination. But the current social-media promo life of Hollywood of course makes us feel as if we are entitled to know... filmlover
Keep in mind to take CinemaCon buzz with a grain of salt. Remember when The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was supposed to be the next Life of Pi? Or when the last Pirates of the Caribbean was shown in full to "the franchise is back" praise?

filmlover
The movies that are usually promoted at CinemaCon are usually the ones that are about to come out (aka the summer movies). I wouldn't expect much from the fall/holiday releases beyond a sizzle reel (aside from I guess the Avatar 2 trailer, which is supposedly set to premiere with Doctor Strange).
CJohn
I think Lionsgate will announce a big movie for August, be it John Wick 4 or Borderlands.

cookie
Why would they suddenly move John Wick seven months forward when it already got significantly pushed back after they were done filming? That doesn't add up to me. Edited April 25, 2022 by cookie

Besides if Universal were to push a film, they’d push something tested and likely a summer film like Dominion or Minions next month. At best from Cinemacon we will get some sort of footage description but won’t get anything until June but I have no reason for them to deviate from the pattern they used recently like Bad Guys or Sing 2. Especially with Universal distributing four animations a year. Mario teaser for Lightyear, attached to Minions Mario trailer attached to Puss Mario 2nd trailer for Strange World Edited April 25, 2022 by YourMother

Because Disney has a specific marketing pattern for it (in that the March and June family movies get a trailer before their November animated movie, it’s been that way for years now) and couldn’t promote the stuff prior like MoM due to spoilers. Again it is one of the exceptions that I mention but it’s clear that the marketing pattern Universal is following is the animated movie release will debut a new trailer of the next animation and a teaser or first look to an animation after the next one. The ENTIRE selling point was seeing all the classic action stars collaborate but then the movies were pretty bad (2 was ok) and wasted the premise. There's no hook for a fourth one now.
