Top Gun: Maverick | Oscar-wining Billionaire | $1.48bn without China!

Recommended Posts

Brilliant run and still enough fuel left in the tank. That SK and Japan holds are awesome considering the competition. Nice to see France hitting 50m. Netherlands on the sly having incredible legs. Despite the bad exchange rates, UK might still hit 100m.

If it can get to 1.45 billion on its first run, with a potential award season re-release maybe can even dream of 1.5b.

Remember just before TGM release there was bump in expectation of domestic numbers considering the hype and Pre-sales...however OS expectations was lesser than Dom (Including me) some of us thought its gonna be Dom heavy/skewing movie....now its at 671m and currently enroute towards 700m!

All regions peformed well OS with some exceptional ones giving it a spot in top 5-20(All time) from those respective markets!

Let's say it also performed very well in china and made more than 300m.

Hahaha....really not sure if it would gross that much in china considering many say...chinese censors wouldn't have passed this movie or having pro american stance wouldn't have appealed to cine goers....i mean for me it was a perfect movie tbh without any political undertones!

Now TGM is also 4th all time movie with most following days over 1 M, only behind Titanic, Avatar and E.T.
This run is really getting a space into the greatest.

Now projected to do $670M with $70M expected in Korea.

$1.3B is likely.

Now $740-750M approx. Don't think will have to increase expectations now.

Top Gun (1986) made ¥7.09B (Original Run (¥6.70B) + 1991 re-release (¥390M)) in Japan.

Tom Cruise's last work "Mission Impossible: Fallout" (2018) made ¥4.72B here. I think min ¥2B / $15.5M or if there is a breakout then ¥5B / $38.8M should be on cards....

My first expectations, likely the very dumb one

I'm thinking $690M in US so maybe $1430M-$1440M final run without China and Russia

Top 10 movies all time without China and Russia :

1. Avatar : $2463M

2. AEG : $2122M

3. Titanic : $2028M

4. SW7 : $1917M

5. NWH : $1841M

6. AIW : $1654M

7. TLK : $1496M

8. TGM : $1430M-$1440M

9. JW : $1419M

10. TA : $1379M

So TGM will be the 8th biggest film of all time without China and Russia ahead of JW and behind TLK. EXCEPTIONAL !

Don't worry, after OD I said 400k OWend (did 530k) and 1.6m total in Germany - it'll do twice that 3.2m (should actually get a bit further than it).

Yes...TGM is currently sitting at 13th in WW list...49M below AoU...

TGM is definitely going past AoU.  Does it have enough to get past Frozen II at 1.45b?  If it gets to 700m domestically that's at least 38m and the international markets are outpacing it right now.  It seems that another 50m overseas is possible with the holds it has been having.  Going to be close, I think.
