where the hell do people get time to watch all these shows. It seems people are able to keep up with every major show that is out. Do people just spend all their free time binging shows?

They're probably watching stuff at 1.5x speed? Or they are at home all day (working, or not working) and can just have streaming always on in the background. And some of the people with takes on a show, haven't actually seen it yet, just the online discourse.

The great year for Paramount continues...

People love to use “marketing” as a shorthand excuse when their faves bomb. It wasn’t marketed enough, it’s marketing wasn’t good enough, blah blah blah. And really, nine times out of ten, movies have a strong ad campaign and are promoted as advertised. The bigger issue is just that if your movie isn’t a nostalgic toy commercial, audiences refuse to watch it.

Focus' marketing was really good, and it is why "The Northman" is doing very well on VOD. (almost as well as "The Bad Guys", which grossed much higher theatrically)

Are we finally in the era where you can actually make good money with when a movie is good? We see it here, with EEAAO and some would argue NWH too.

NWH is not a good movie at all, people were just extremely blinded by nostalgia and fanservice.

Parts of it were good, tom holland's arc for the whole trilogy was wrapped up pretty well and there were some good performances here and there but i can fully agree on the fan service and good chunks of the dialogue  btn the sinister 5 and alternate spidermen was really gimicky ,

liked the movie but on rewatch its not as engaging and the first half has pacing issues.

You’d be surprised how many people you argue with about a show or movie who have never even seen the movie lol. Thank god for Wikipedia.

Yeah the perceived quality of a film - always a subjective opinion ofc - has nothing to do with its box office success. That has everything to do with how interested the GA is in it and then how well they like it.

For example, it doesnt matter if you loved, liked or hated NWH - the GA cleary loved it and thats why it was such a giant success.

2 out of 4 quadrants sure but not the full GA. Only a few films have this power

I thought you will give FK example :sadfleck:

I wanted to use JW 1 originally ... but i dont want to always use Jurassic World movies as examples for such posts. Even for me, there must be the option to use other movies for amazing WOM.

Spoiler

And yes, WOM for FK was clearly good-to-solid, judging by its 2,8 multiplier the GA mostly liked it.

You are right. There are only a few truly 4-quadrant-movies. Two actually.

Jurassic Park
Jurassic World

Feige/Marvel potentially lost 100+ million dollars bc they let Raimi make Evil Dead 4. What a strange decision by marvel.

Misleading marketing campaign +++ crap wom doomed them. Whatever good will the MCU had from NWH is gone.

Still think they should’ve left things at Endgame. MCU is definitely starting to lose some luster. DS-2 should’ve easily been a 400 mil grosser.

Hey, letting Raimi indulge a bit didn't work audiences at large but definitely hoping and expecting they let Waititi, Gunn, Reed and Coogler indulge a bit too. Time to let filmmakers, especially those that have earned it, have more freedom to slam their stamp on these films and sink or swim in doing so. Strange is still a success just not the overwhelming, irrefutable success many had hoped for...

As for leaving it at Endgame... Huh? That was never, ever going to happen.
