James
with 3D, we're talking over 30mil Weekend 3D shows sell for more than 14€ per standard ticket at my theater, that's about 16USD with current exchange rates. You can do the math from there ... even if you take into account that there are a lot of discount options, 35mil from Germany and 4-5mil from Austria seem a good estimate. So possibly 35m OW?[emoji33] Trimis de pe al meu SM-J100H folosind Tapatalk

IndustriousAngel
MarkG's first weekend trend is online at insidekino.de and it's looking like <3mil; might not even reach 2,5: #1: SW7 - 2.3 - 2.6mil admissions #2: MJ2 - 150k (-45%) #3: Hilfe, ich ... - 150k (good opening in the face of SW7) #4: Heidi - 140k (-5%) #5: Spectre - 115k (-45%) So, the battle for best opening weekend (admission-wise) is on and will be much closer than expected; money-wise, SW7 is shattering records left and right. To give non-Germans a hint about the money breaking detail: Before SW7 the record was €17.7m for a local movie (already a big record) => €28m+ are really shattering... (OD €6.6m) But there are good numbers also for other movies at this weekend, means it's not like in the US where some theaters only show 2 other movies, each once a day

IndustriousAngel
well, estimates keep dropping ... 2,2mil now for SW7, so the opening record in admissions is definitely out of reach (would be the 5th best, with 2,2). Seems it was very frontloaded after all.

Elessar
SW being SW, frontloadness is inevitable. Doesn't necessarily mean it won't stabilize going forward, especially since holidays are in full swing.

The frontloadedness I talked about concerned midnights/opening day.

Giesi
Why the huge fall from predictions? Let's hope for a 2nd weekend over 1,5m admissions, 8m total.
terrestrial
Maybe based on even less experience for calculating that kind of presales (including time frame) as rather unusual for here?

Very good drop for Spectre, and of couse family stuff like Heidi, Little Prince and opener "Hilfe, ich …" was not influenced by the massice opening.1 Next weekend: SW7 should have a very nice hold (say, -30% or better) given the holiday constellation; also there's nothing opening for the demo. Family stuff should see some very nice holds (or increases) too; however there are some new, smaller family and kid films opening so admissions will get a little more widespread (I have no idea how well Peanuts might do - they're well-known but nothing like stars).
