Can't speak for the southern parts of the country, but where I live the day started with plenty of rain, before it turned sunny in the early afternoon. Then again, Saturday wasn't all that great here either. Lots of rain before it turned to be just cloudy (if still warm) for the evening.

Overall a pretty warm weekend, and still quite sunny, especially on Friday, which was by far the best day in terms of weather.

That's about an 18% drop for Pirates from its opening not counting previews. Even with previews it only dropped about 29%.

Was it cold and rainy?

At least yesterday was the worst day of the weekend in the South; all other days were sunny and warm.
And today it was mixed to bad here and now it rains ;). Reports say the numbers today (Pentecost Monday = national holiday) are not quite on the same level as yesterday but close to that (for Baywatch even the same).
Reservations look even better than yesterday at mathäser, e.g. the evening show for Baywatch: Of 443 seats only 54 are not reservated/sold 1 1/2 hour before it starts. Moviegoers who come spontaneously will have to take the first row :).

Unfortunately we'll never know which admission numbers PotC5 would have had with two rainy weeks...but probably legs are really better than I feared after the second trend.

The Tuesday update: The admissions from Thursday - Monday (incl.):

PotC5: 610k/1.41M total - so ca. 135k admissions yesterday
Baywatch: 576k (with previews which weren't big, only around 22.5k) - ca. 131k admissions yesterday

And today it rains here since the morning (today is cinema day - cheaper tickets, normally well frequented).

Thanks to worse-than-expected weather, theatres were quite packed last weekend. Pretty much every movie had beautiful drops and family films even increased. Pirates 5 mitigated some of the damage done by the sun in its opening and is on course for around 2.5m admissions (still a big drop from the last film, but oh well). Baywatch had a very good opening with a strong PTA; 1.5m admissions total seems locked at this point. Diary of the Wimpy Kid didn't make much noise (as expected), and neither did the two domestic releases.

Next weekend:

The Mummy reboot invades theaters this weekend, but I'm not too bullish on its chances. The Brendan Fraser trilogy was huge here (the first two films, at least) and Tom Cruise is somewhat of a draw, but right now I can't see more than 300k for its debut (maybe closer to 250k). Also opening are two french comedies: Si j'étais un homme, which is about a woman who wakes up with a penis (:wintf:). That movie was a huge flop in France by the way. The other one is Sage Femme, more of a dramedy than a pure Comedy. With these French films you never know how they'll do here. They could be monster hits (like Intouchables) or bomb, so I really don't know how those two will perform. Finally, we also have domestic experimental movie Plan B - Scheiß auf Plan A, which could attract some interest. Depending on weather and The Mummy's debut, Pirates 5 and/or Baywatch could remain at the top.

I like the analyses of IndustriousAngel but you do a fine job as assistance :).

Yes, it will be an interesting fight for #1 between PotC5, Baywatch and the newcomer The Mummy. That The Mummy so far has only one single review here (7/10 by the way) may be good (looking at its score at RT) but OTOH that also means that the low-buzz-times continue (and since it's released tomorrow what should make people want to see it I wonder?). Reservations also look pretty modest.

Because of Baywatch and also because of the niche topics I doubt that „Plan B“ or „Ein Kuss von Béatrice“ will have much impact and „Mein neues bestes Stück“ does not have buzz either (and the only poster I saw looks terrible IMO).

Insidekino.de projects drops of only 30% for PotC5 and Baywatch this weekend.

Some Thursday estimates from insidekino.de/forum:

New Releases:

The Mummy: 40k (released in 600 theaters, mediocre reviews between 4 and 7/10; the trilogy between 1999-2008 had 4.9M, 4.1M and 1.7M admissions) – not great but could have come a lot worse
Plan B – Scheiß auf Plan B: under 1k (185, very ok reviews)
Mein neues bestes Stück/Si j'étais un homme: under 1k (117, mediocre reviews)
Ein Kuss von Béatrice/Sage Femme: under 1k (100, mostly ok reviews around 6/10)
Born to be Blue: ?k (a film about the jazz-trumpeter Chet Baker, 74, good reviews)
Whitney: Can I Be Me: ?k (a Whitney Houston documentary, ca. 150 theaters, good reviews)

Holdovers:

Baywatch: 39.5k (50k) – a very good hold and not unexpected
PotC 5: 27.5k (45k) – also ok
Alien: Covenant: 6k (10k)
GotG2: 4.5k (7k)
King Arthur: 3k (4k)
In Zeiten des abnehmenden Lichts: 2k (3k)
Before I Fall: 1k

A terrible first trend for all movies except Baywatch and even that number is disappointing.
And now with Wonder Woman released next weekend (also said to be good weatherwise) it's over.

Some Thursday actuals (source Blickpunkt:Film): These numbers are very ok for the holdovers; the sunny weekend is the problem. The smaller new releases are a catastrophe either way:

New Releases:

The Mummy: 32.5k – overestimated by 7.5k yesterday, maybe again last minute stornos
Whitney: Can I Be Me: 1.1k
Ein Kuss von Béatrice/Sage Femme: 1.060
Born to be Blue: 1k
Plan B – Scheiß auf Plan B: not in the Top 18
Mein neues bestes Stück/Si j'étais un homme: not in the Top 18

Holdovers:

Baywatch: 41.5k (actuals last Thursday 50k) – you see, a really good hold compared to its first Thursday/its release day!
PotC 5: 37.5k (45k) – underestimted by far yesterday, a good number
GotG2: 6.5k (7k)
Alien: Covenant: 6k (10k)

So the drops  won't won't be as bad as initially thought?

Unfortunately Mark_G is mostly right with his extrapolations, so 200k for PotC5 and 225k for Baywatch could be true. But the Thursday actuals show which low multiplier he uses (only a bit more than 4x the Thursday numbers for the whole weekend). Last weekend the multiplier was near 10x (45k Thursday and 481k admissions whole weekend for PotC5; ok, Monday was a national holiday last week but this weekend the South has also school holidays). You see how different the multiplier is... So hopefully Mark is off because the weather is not as good as thought. I can't speak for more than Bavaria but today it wasn't good here: Not cold but grey since noon. Could help.
