Is Venom 2 really getting previews this weekend? I can only find showtimes for next Wednesday (the day before official release).

I wish WB would do it with Dune, though, if Halloween Kills doesn't get IMAX and other premium formats. They could do a week of previews before official release on October 21.

Well,it WAS supposed to get previews this weekend but now that you mentioned I also can't find any showtimes for the life of me. Unless they meant closed events, in that case it would not reflect the box office at all and they did it just to troll me lol.

I agree with Dune. I am not expecting Halloween Kills to be that big over here, there would be some room for previews of Dune.

Yeah, no Venom lol. But anyway, is still doing really well on pre-sales. It is still early to tell if it will break records here too, but is a pretty good candidate.

This weekend, the release of No Time to Die pulled the top 10 back to above R$10M, the movie is officially the 2nd best opening of an 007 movie and Shang-Chi finally passed Black Widow's total.

Next weekend will be Venom's weekend, with late screenings begging on wednesday. It also releases the brazilian comic book adaptation Yakuza Princess, a month after its release on US (an rarity for brazilian movies).

Ok, I get it now. Comscore's numbers counts the wednesday previews while Sony's numbers didn't. Makes sense.

As said before, Venom had the best opening of the pandemic, sold more than 900k tickets so far, and is pretty much the first franchise movie to reach pre-pandemic levels, this makes everyone very optimistic for the end of the year. Bond also had a pretty good hold for the second weekend, Fatima got in the top 10 with its previews and the BO more than doubled from last weekend. Like I said, today and tomorrow should give the movies another boost, I'll update if anything gets reported.

Next weekend will release Halloween Kills, The Last Duel, the full release of Fatima and the brazilian Amarração do Amor.

Venom 2 blew up the beggining of the week, but it blew up HARD. The movie made R$11.5M on monday and tuesday. Now the movie have a total of R$27.5M+ and already cracked the top 5 of the year.

During the last 2 days No Time to Die also made R$3M, Paw Patrol did R$1M and Shang-Chi did R$700k.

This weekend, Venom 2 remains with the most amount of screenings, Halloween Kills released on 600 screenings, Fatima expands to 300 screenings and every other new release sets on between 200-300. In other words, probably another easy win for Venom.

Also, a bit unrelated, but Deserto Particular (Private Desert) was chosen to represent Brazil on 2022's Oscar. The movie won the audience award of best movie on the Venice Festival and is set to a limited release on november 25.

Box office 15-17 october

Movie Box Office (R$)             Total (R$)
1 Venom: Let There be carnage 10.367.000 39.777.000
2 Halloween Kills 2,537.000 2.537.000
3 No Time to Die 2.426.000 18.299.000
4 The Last Duel 646.500 646.000
5 Paw Patrol 561.000 12.237.000
6 Fatima 320.000 535.000
7 Amarração do Amor 269.000 269.000
8 Ainbo - Spirit of Amazon 245.000 2.240.000
9 Shang-Chi 196.000 39.388.000
10 Boss Baby 2 174.400 11,072.000

This weekend had a 19% drop over last week, but since last week was a record-breaking week this still means this weekend was one of the best of the year. This was also the first weekend without restriction in São Paulo. Venom 2 had an amazing hold of just -33%. Halloween Kills' released with a little more than half of what the previous movie did in its opening.

Nest week is time for Duna and Rob's Gone Wrong.

So Venom did another R$1.27M on monday, it cracked now R$41M lifetime and 2.4M tickets sold. It was not holiday or anything, just a really good mid-week day.

Sony is being SO generous with providing numbers this past two weeks. They like to boast and they are not even trying to hide lol

It's a shame that the Brazilian economy is in shambles. With the current exchange rate, even a decent performance for Dune won't add much to its worldwide total. I paid the equivalent of around $3.40 U.S. dollars for my IMAX ticket, which is insane compared to the average price in the U.S.

Yeah, bought my ticket now and I paid the same. It seems that Venom will maintain most of the screens this week too.
