The 95th Academy Awards official live feed thread | EEAAO and All Quiet win most of the awards. A24 reigns supreme and Asian Excellence is high

Recommended Posts

We're 5 days away from the moment this long awards season has been all building up to: The 95th Academy Awards! So many questions are about to be answered. Butler or Fraser? Blanchett or Yeoh? Who is taking home Supporting Actress? Will Top Gun win anything? How many awards will Everything Everywhere win? Could Andrea Riseborough shock everyone with a win as the grand finale to all the drama surrounding her nomination? Will there be any references to The Slap or will they try to move on from last year's controversial ceremony as much as they can?

All that - and more! - will be answered when the 95th Oscars at the Dolby Theatre hosted by Jimmy Kimmel airs on Sunday, March 12th, at 8 p.m. on ABC. And tune in before that for the red carpet when we get to see the fashions that everyone will be wearing as they arrive.

As usual, keep it nice, and most all, Hooray for Hollywood!

It is crazy to see of the four acting nomination, three of them are in the close race. I can't remember when was the last time we saw the acting's race was this wild. Probably 80th oscar when Marion Cortillard upset Julie Christie and Tilda Swinton surprise.

Did we not just go through this with Andrea Riseborough? Oscar campaigns aren't supposed to negatively bring up the competition and that includes pullquotes from the media. The post has been deleted from Yeoh's account, but the internet is forever and AMPAS members can be petty. At least this is the end of the last day of voting, and most people have probably already made their choice.

This anonymous voter loved everything about Tar in the categories it was nominated in, except for one category https://variety.com/2023/awards/awards/anonymous-oscars-ballots-top-gun-maverick-colin-farrell-1235545539/

No Gaga performance. Wack.

Haha, I knew it. She's really paid Hold My Hand dust this entire awards season. The official story will be that she won't have time to properly put together a quality performance as she's filming Joker 2, but they've had super last-minute performers before. One year Whitney Houston got kicked off an Oscars performance during rehearsals two days before the ceremony, they brought in Faith Hill to sub and it worked out fine.

HMH is a ballad, just stand on the stage and sing. Do a stripped-down acoustic version to keep it simple. It's not like she's never performed at the Dolby and doesn't know the acoustics. Are we pretending Todd Phillips wouldn’t have possibly given her a long weekend off if she really wanted to sing at the ceremony? She's definitely the caliber of performer where she could've negotiated in her contract that she gets time off to do the Oscars, if nominated. They've been filming outdoor scenes with Joaquin recently, anyway.

She has her Original Song Oscar already and wants the next award from AMPAS to be for acting, especially after she did The Most last season and still got snubbed. She probably agreed to do this song in 2019, a lifetime ago in showbiz terms. Also, the shadow of Shallow looms large...

So basically the opposite of four years ago when Gaga performed while the Black Panther song was the only one not performed. Ironically enough, I remember there being reports that year where Gaga stood up to the producers and said "everyone performs or I don't" when news got out that only the Black Panther and A Star Is Born songs would be allowed to perform. Guessing she felt bad there about not sticking up for the two unknown performers (one of whom was a trans woman) a few years before when she/Sam Smith/The Weeknd were the only Song nominees deemed worthy of airtime.

That reminds me that the ceremony itself this has been largely devoid of controversy so far this year after how chaotic it's been in recent years, especially these past two ceremonies. Hopefully the producers are taking to heart all the criticism the show has justifiably faced lately and are looking to avoid any more bad publicity that does nothing but fuel the "Oscars have become irrelevant" narrative.

as long as they arent playing any games I can see some logic in that; if Field wrote the script specifically for Blanchett, writing it in a way that played to her strengths, allowing her to shine by simply doing everything he told her to;  can see how that robs it of some luster and "worthiness"

Doing predictions

Picture: Everything Everywhere

Director: Daniels

Actor: Austin Butler

Actress: Blanchett

Supp. Actor: Quan

Supp. Actress: Kerry Condon

O Screenplay: Everything Everywhere

A Screenplay: All Quiet

Cinematography: All Quiet

Costumes: Elvis

Production Design: Elvis

Make Up: Elvis

Editing: Everything Everywhere

Sound: Top Gun

Score: All Quiet

Song: RRR

Visual Effects: Avatar

Animated film: Pinocchio

Documentary: Navalny

International: All Quiet

Animated Short: My Year of Dicks

Documentary Short: Stranger at the Gate

Live Action Short: Le Pupille

So that's EEAAO w/ 5 and Elvis and All Quiet with 4 each. It might be more spread out than that but idk. Also not predicting it but think there's a decent chance Everything Everywhere becomes only the third movie ever to win three acting Oscars, which would be... strange.
