Hollywood is definntly in for the roughest ride it has had in terms of change since TV came along  in the late 40's. Theater revenues dropped 40% within a couple of years.

Cable and television are also dying. Netflix has ruined the entertainment medium.

It's not "cool" to be anti-capitalist. This sentiment has always existed. Not everyone - as a matter of fact, a large amount of people - do not benefit from capitalism, and probably never will. You may mock people for having rightfully placed rage against what is currently established, call them luddites and idiots, and that's just gonna make you sound as comically evil as these AMPTP buffoons. And the "they never come up with a solution" argument, have they ever had a chance to? Fuck off.

Nice dodge of my question: What would you replace private business with?

As for having a chance, replacing private business wholesale with government has been tried, did not work to well. See the fall of Communism for details.

You know those machines on Star Trek that could make anything out of thin air? That's what I want.

Too bad the basic laws of physics say the replicators on Star Trek are impossible.

Hey, the writers of Star Trek themselves think that the magic replicators were one of Roddenbury;s sillier ideas they had to live with.

Public business. A socialist economy system.

"Fall of Communism" - you mean the disregard for rules of equity during the nationalization of property as executed by a cult of personality, narcissistic tyrant? It is as bad an example as any. Tell me you know a thing more about communism than just the dark side of Stalinist practices and I'll begin to consider you know a thing about what you're talking about. Till then, I am as much a Luddite as you are a neoliberal.

Nevertheless, we're working on it.

I thought hte unions might have an agreement to honor each other's strike.

It does seem that anything filming in the UK can continue because of UK law regarding the unions so Beetlejuice 2 and Wicked can continue but something like Twisters has to go on hiatus.

SAG probably also can't force actors who are part of American Equity to down tools either and I suspect there is an agreement that members can still perform in the theatre but not be allowed to promote any upcoming projects.

I said it here first.

They are going to replace writers with AI.

But I have no sympathy for most of them, they put more effort on political and social propaganda than in writing good stuff.

Can you help me with this?  Words that end in “OKE”

I knew it was just a matter of time before a right wing troll  showed up.

Note how he ignores that AI written stuff if probably going to total crap.
