🙄 making this comment after getting that big money contract extension lol

There is only one aspect to the strike they aren't being realistic about, and it's the discussion around AI.

But also, I think when a new contract is signed for both SAG-AFTRA and WGA, the real problems with AI won't even be tackled, and that'll be the basis of the next contract negotiations.

The independent streaming space is controlled by the corporations. You're not going to get any creatives leaving Hollywood anytime soon, the money is way too lucrative.

Clearly it isn't. Hence the strikes.

In a few months there will be a new deal made, and in a few years, there will be another strike because AI will be better, and the contract won't have enough AI stipulations, because I legitimately believe clauses about AI will be the first to be pushed off the negotiation table, especially if that means the writers and actors get their money demands.

I know there is an anti Hollywood vibe but people do realise Hollywood collapsing or going under is simply not going to happen even with the strikes.

There is a difference in “the current system is going to collapse onto itself” and “Hollywood is going to collapse and there will never be movies again.”

Hollywood “collapsed” in the late 1960s. The Big Studios all either sold or went through massive changes — aka the “collapse of the Golden Age”.

And we got exceptional movies after that, maybe it would be good if strikes break the system entirely

Sadly the executed will probably realize this soon enough to avoid it

They'll strike but once it's resolved and it will be resolved. People will go back to the Hollywood system.

Hence my point that if the strikes do go on for a long time, the creatives could well turn to YouTube for income.

Breaking the system is very unlikely though. These companies make more money now because their revenue streams are more diverse compared to 50-60 years ago.

YouTube Reds actual originals program was a failure with exception of Cobra Kai, which was immediately taken from them. There's a zero percent chance you're gonna get Hollywood production levels from just independents trying to do it on their own.

SAG-AFTRA was always going to be The Big One since you can still continue filming stuff from scripts already written before the deadline while WGA went on strike. Once AMPTP starts to see how that impacts their bank accounts (which is really what everyone from all walks of life, not just the entertainment industry, care most about at the end of the day), they'll be running back to the bargaining table to sign off on a deal even if it means doing so gritting through their teeth.
