I feel like calling anything releasing in 2025 a guaranteed flop of any kind is a reach.

It is not. Cause it is not a reach to say that the MCU plans post Endgame has been a flop and hype has been on a steep decline. At this current stage why would Cap America 4 and Thunderbolts fare much better than The Marvels when they are built on the same rotten foundations? By now people should be aware that random superheroes fighting a random supervillain is no longer a winning formula. The multiverse saga has been a resounding, undeniable flop yet Marvel continues to march forward with it even with countless reshuffling of plans.

You're clearly trolling at this point. Next you'll be suggesting no more Marvel films ever again.

No one is suggesting that. Name one person here that is saying that Marvel will can DP3 or Spider-Man 4.

They are not gonna can MCU because, with POTC, and Star Wars in the gutter, MCU is the only live-action IP that is doing anything on Disney's side. Avatar as well, but James Cameron will not let Disney pump out anything out of that IP beyond the main movies. Of the Disney >$600m WW grossers post-COVID, all but one are MCU.

If people in Marvel continue to stick their head in the sand and pretend everything is fine with a new coat of paint, we will eventually reach that stage. We are not there yet but ultimately Disney is not a charity organization and must make decisions based on future revenue rather than past glories. Pirates of the Caribbean got shitcanned even though it NEVER remotely was close to bombing like The Marvels.

Honestly, people in Disney should start having conversations as to what plan B they have if the MCU is permanently unprofitable.  Cause if they wait till Kang Dynasty bombs before they start discussing it, it will be too late. This is why I have been suggesting Disney consider doing stuff like buying Hasbro, cause it will give them new IPs to play with. But of course how they can get the money to make such a purchase, I have no idea.

I think it's safe to say, you're never going to get a job in the entertainment industry judging by your posts.

I can't believe how big of a BOMB this is. This is a sequel to a billion dollar movie only 4 years ago and its going to drop off 75% from that movie. This isnt the general audience just not giving a shit about this movie it's MCU fans not giving a shit about it as well.  When trash like Thor 4 and Antman 3 still opened to 100 million plus domestic this opens to 40-45m, like  WTF, this is just a straight up disaster no way to spin it.  Its going to have a hard time making more than The Incredible Hulk from 15 years ago. The Marvels is going to sell half the tickets of The Incredible Hulk. An all time fail

The MCU will be rebooted if that happens, there is no such thing as a franchise being permanently unprofitable, that's just your hyperbolic take. The Batman franchise recovered from Batman and Robin, Spider-Man recovered from TASM2 and The Planet of the Apes franchise which was dormant for over a decade was successfuly revived.

I do realize people in the entertainment industry loves to stick their head in the sand, but ultimately no matter how much they fight it they can never escape the gravity that is the need for Hollywood to be a business. As long as the MCU makes money, Iger and his people would be desperate to do anything for it, but what happens when it stops making money?

Disney has been trying to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise for a while already, with no luck. Rebooting the MCU is easier said than done. But I do think it is something they should consider sooner rather than latter.

I wonder if we'll ever see Marvel come full circle and the Marvel characters star in self contained series that don't intertwine as a Cinematic Universe? Probably not, but it's interesting to think about.

Then the MCU becomes essentially no different from the DCEU............ one of the biggest reasons for the MCU being a success is that the movies are intertwined and the general public feel the obligation to see them all. It is probably true that this intertwining is increasingly becoming unsustainable and a burden. But self contained series means that it's going to be way harder to sell those Blue Bettles.

They couldn't sell Blue Beetle because nobody asked for it and the director came out and antagonized Batman fans after the backlash to the Batman is a fascist line. That was his misstep.
