With Deadpool & Wolverine, that marks a whopping 6 movies post-pandemic (the others being No Way Home, Top Gun: Maverick, Mario, Barbie, and Inside Out 2) that sold more tickets domestically than Avatar 2. I think Moana 2, Passion of the Christ 2, Minecraft, and Zootopia 2 have shots at beating Avatar 2 in admissions.

 

In comparison, no movie post-pandemic sold more tickets than the first Avatar domestically. In fact, only two movies in the 21st century, those being the mega-events of The Force Awakens and Avengers: Endgame sold more tickets than the first Avatar domestically.

it's been so long since the first one. My guess is that it will be less topical, plus it's a cop story so they'll want to avoid some things.

lol did Levi even do much promo for this? It was made so long back that he must've been like "wait, that still hasn't been released yet?" when receiving the invite to the premiere a few weeks ago.

 

There's quite a few movies out this month that have been sitting on the shelf for a while. Blink Twice and The Crow were also shot during the summer of 2022. And of course there's Borderlands which began filming in early 2021 - Cate actually made this before Tar!
