cookie
What a terrible number. Couldn't even top DH2. No chance in hell it get the OW record. 130m tops.Potter had 3800+ theaters on midnight. TA only had around 2500.
Magic
Making far less than half the midnight record does not equal making the opening weekend record.Backloaded? Is this actually a term now?Opening Weekend % Of Total:Iron Man: 31.0%Incredible Hulk: 41.1%Iron Man 2: 41.0%Thor: 36.3%Captain America: 36.8%Healthy holds, but not earth shattering.IM2 made well under half DH1's midnights and beat it 128M to 125M. SchumacherFTW
Excellent number. I'm still hesistant to call on the opening weekend record, but if it can just stay slightly ahead of TDK for the weekend, I think the second weekend record is pretty much there for the taking. As opposed to films like Twilight/HP/THG who do most of it on the OD.That's what he means by "backloaded" on the OW. Fanboy
Solid number, though I have a feeling it will go down and end up around 16M, considering the original estimate was revised.

RTX
Someone needs to edit the title. The estimate is dropping already: FRIDAY 8 AM: Rival studios tell me that Marvel’s The Avengers from Disney did not set a record for midnight showings — and made between $18 million-$20 million from about 2,500 North American theaters.
