Spizzer I may be wrong. BOM might use overall averages. Year Gross/Year Admissions.However you have to account for the increasing percentage of 3D and imax grosses, after avatar 3D exploded. In other words 2007 and 2008 will be much closer to the average suggested by BOM because 3D and imax were less a factor back then.Just when I think we've figured it all out. Haha :)

Where did DH2 get 2D shows in IMAX. Not a single one in the UK.

The 70MM IMAX screens (non-lieMax)I personally saw it in non-3D IMAX, at the Udvar-Hazy Center, the Dulles branch of the Smithsonian Edited by spizzer

Also, because you were quoting my HTML posts (the charts), your text-box has turned off editing mode. At the top left corner of the box, you should see a button that says "Toggle Editing Mode." Click that and you should be good.

But I'm not using any overall average price. I'm using separate 2D/3D/IMAX prices, a different price for each share Edited by spizzer

Then how are you accounting for inflation between 2011 from you site and other years

That's where estimation comes in. Expected ticket price inflation is ~3%. I just apply that to each individual price. I'll admit there's room for error there, but as far as my knowledge is, it was generally accepted that that's close to the rate. Edited by spizzer

That Sunday figure is nuts.

Wow, 10% drop from Saturday. How does this compare to the monster weekends that you've seen there before? Just off the top of your head, or even the eye-test?

I pulled the numbers for DH2, BD1, and THG, you want to see those?

I see. That could introduce a huge amount of error.

@spizzer

And yet, it's still the most accurate way of trying to come up with admissions. The next best way (BOM) tells us Avengers sold 25.6M tickets. We know that's more than 3M above the actual. That's much larger than the error that may be present with this method. If the actual ticket prices become available, I'd definitely use those instead.

According to BOM, SM3's estimate is 21,964,000. So if that happens TA would at least be the most attended Summer kick off film.

SM3 Format Gross Share Price Tickets 3D $- 0.0% $9.64 - IMAX 3D $- 0.0% $12.81 - Other $- 0.0% $13.20 - 2D $146,316,516 96.8% $6.75 21,668,491 IMAX $4,800,000 3.2% $12.51 383,760 Total $151,116,516 $6.85 22,052,250

It's interesting that taking all those into account, you get slightly more admissions than BOM does, which would not have expected.
