Weird question, but why does Japan go beyond a 24hr clock?

Not only Japan, they do it too here, whenever a show starts post-midnight. I think it's to avoid misunderstanding. Let's say someone bought tickets for Dec 16, 1:00, and now it's Dec 16, 15:00. They might think it's later today after midnight, when in fact, the show was last night and that means, they missed it. But when it's written Dec 15, 25:00, people will have a clearer idea. That's just my assumption though.

It's because people might get confused Midnight shows with morning shows which starts as early as 04:00 AM (normal opening is 08:00 AM) so it's a (04:00 AM - 27:59 AM clock)

TOHO Shinjuku (Matrix Resurrections SUB)

Midnight Screenings

Screen 10 /IMAX /24:00-26:40 JST

Total Booking : 189 /311+2 (60.57% sold)

Screen 9 /Dolby Atmos /25:00-27:40 JST :

Total Booking 39 /499+2 (7.81% sold)

I check some regions, it doing pretty low for OD (12/17) less than 15% or even 5% advance booking in maximum region, so weekend is likely to be between ¥200M-¥300M. I do not know if sales spikes at last minute. Will be updating as frequent as I can.

IMAX looks better than Dolby. MX4D same as Dolby low, 6/10 tickets in average show &less than 10% occupancy

TOHO Shinjuku (Matrix Resurrections SUB)

Midnight Screenings

Screen 10 /IMAX /24:00-26:40 JST :

Total Booking : 202 /311+2 (64.95% sold)

Screen 9 /Dolby Atmos /25:00-27:40 JST :

Total Booking : 44 /499+2 (8.82% sold)

Matrix Resurrections seems to be dead for other premiums format. IMAX is on majority, rest of the screens are still below 10%....

Kids show intends to do less during Weekdays + Parents limiting them to D+ but Matrix Resurrection looks disappointed.

Okay most likely 250 ticket bookings for IMAX at rushing. Dolby may add another 5-10 tickets but I will not be available to update at that time...(will be sleeping)

But, still I doubt if it can leg well or not. Old folks doesn't seem to have any interest lately. Press Ratings might increase WOM but need to mobilize more GA as ageing population of Fanbase can not add much.

3 billion yen wouldbe satisfying

Yeah, Decent drop (more than 50%) from last film that back in Nov 2003 that made ¥6.7B but need to leg out Venom 2 which is currently the highest grossing imported film of 2022. For time-being, NWH, all of this records will be smashed and will rule the 2022 charts for Imported Release, until Light Year drop in the market.

2021 Highest Grossing Film in 🗾 Japan:

1️⃣ Evangelion 3.0+1.01: Thrice Upon A Time : ¥10.28B

2️⃣ Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet : ¥7.55B

3️⃣ Belle : ¥6.53B

4️⃣ Tokyo Revengers : ¥4.47B

5️⃣ Rurouni Kenshin: The Final : ¥4.35B

Evangelion may/might another ¥10M from recent 4DX release at United Cinemas. Therefore, cumulative is expected to pass ¥10.29B or it's a safe bid to say ¥10.3B Finals.

On the other hand, Demon Slayer Mugen Train is assumed to pass ¥40.43B from all recent IMAX &4DX screening. However, I am holding my excitement until Toho publish their 2021 Annual BO Report. Combining all those DVDs/BDs and digital &TV broadcast has believe to have pass $900M but felt short of Spirited Away's $2000M combined revenue in all media's.

Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet had the Biggest OW below Demon Slayer as per local release but CoVid-19 &Prefectures lock out has drastically affected it's leg. The 2021 Detective Conan has been delayed to 2022 release. And is expected to break ¥10B, first time for the entire Conan Series.
