You will all probably laugh at this bit i really liked Cutthroat Island, i liked it much more than the POTC films and it felt like a very old school pirate film from the 40's and 50's.

I liked too!

GeenaDavis is great in my opinion.

But, people, stay away of Pirates from Polanski.

Caught up it on tv the other day.

Turn it off after 20 minutes.

* ass-eating

* pee

* rat-eating

* vinegar medicine in the ass

* monstrous wigs

* costume direction so ooooold and and NO-beautiful.

What is this, a Polanski movie or an especially nasty episode of Jackass?

He used to be a good action director, but look at the shit he has been spewing for the last ten years. Bleurgh.

Yeah he's been demoted to DTV shite. He's a good action director though and i hope he makes a come back at some point.I remember reading about a script he wanted to make or adapt and it was about warewolves on a space station or moon base or something, it sounds a bit 'wtf?' but the way he described it, it sounded fantastic!, it had a real cool sounding title as well but i can't remember it. :unsure:

Cutthroat Island still has the best practical effects explosion ever put on film imo when the ship explodes. Harlin Apparently Harlin wasn't keen on the first explosion so they had to build another ship to do it again weeks later!, i don't know if thats true or a myth but no wonder the budget was so big!.http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tvj8rvvcNsU

You will all probably laugh at this bit i really liked Cutthroat Island, i liked it much more than the POTC films and it felt like a very old school pirate film from the 40's and 50's.Speaking of bombs, what about Pluto Nash, it only made like 2mil and cost about 100mil or something!.

I find Cutthroat tolerable, personally, and I do think at times it is better than a couple of the POTC films.... though definitely not the first one. My daughter likes Cutthroat as much as the POTC movies, that's for sure. She gets a kick out of the novelty of a female pirate.There's some really, really bad dialogue in Cutthroat, though. For example:"A ship! I find myself being fired upon by an entire ship!" :lol:

Carolcco went bankrupt because of this.Don't gorget Heaven's Gate.The biggest game changer in Hollywood.After this movie, directors became the yes men of producers.

This wasn't the only move that contributed to Carolco's demise. Showgirls says "hello". Cutthroat did the most damage, though. It is considered perhaps the biggest bomb in box office history. Certainly it is in the top 5.

Rth said between 7-8m. It's between 7-8m. Is it still more than any other non holiday, summer etc. Monday? I don't know. Demand has to be burnt off at some point. I don't think I'm gonna even sweat the week day numbers. I'll just wait for the weekend.

by Ray Subers

Posted Image The Avengers

May 13, 2012

With official grosses reporting on Monday, it's official—The Avengers has joined the fabled $1 billion worldwide box office club. The movie reached this level on its 19th day in theaters, which ties the record-breaking pace of Avatarand Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2(though The Avengers was only playing in the U.S. for ten of those days). It currently ranks 12th on the all-time worldwide chart with $1.000.4 billion, and by the end of next weekend it will move up to fourth place behind Avatar, Titanic and Deathly Hallows Part 2.

If you adjust Cutthroat Island, it made $18.1m on a budget of $148m.

By your adjustment of the gross to $18m ($10m +80%), shouldn't the budget adjust up to $176m ($98m +80%)? That's pretty colossal :lol:I know there are worse bombs than John Carter, but JC is by far the funniest. To me, anyway.
