Rsyu
Ode to my father must be #2 for 2014 In admissions yes. in gross it still lags behind Interstellar and Frozen although it's locked to pass them in that area too.

Rsyu
Rsyu, how are presales for BH6? Also, do you think 100M is possible for TA2? @BH6: currently 10,375 tickets presold with 2.5% share. @TA2: Possible but not probable. The potential is there but I don't think it's very likely.

For my TA2's club sake, I really need it to breakout in Korea and China otherwise crappy exchange rates in Europe and Latin America are going to kill it.
Fullbuster
I see a modest increase in South Korea from TA1, and given how big it was at this time I would be fully satisfied with that
LexJoker
I see a modest increase in South Korea from TA1, and given how big it was at this time I would be fully satisfied with that IM3 was bigger, so you should compare TA2 with that. chasmmi
TA2 will increase over Ironman 3, the kids love avengers here and its in Seoul (saw my old street in the trailer). At this point I would honestly say it is locked to beat Frozen even if it isn't very good. Will probably beat Transformer's one day record for a Hollywood film and if it turns out to be awesome (in the eyes of Koreans) Avatar genuinely becomes the target but only if its getting 9s on the review sites.
Rsyu
A large part of the buzz for AoU in Korea right now is related to the fact that there are scenes shot in Korea and a Korean actress (Soo-Hyun) is part of the avengers cast. If the scenes shot in Korea live up to expectations (in both length and quality) and Soo-hyun actually plays an important role in the film, then I can see the film being embraced by many people. on the flipside, if the scenes shot in Korea and Soo-hyun's role in the film are brief and not really important in the context of the film (kind of like Fan Bingbing's role in days of future past) I can see many people being disappointed and it probably won't become an event film. In the former scenario I see a potential rival for Avatar, in the latter an IM3 level performance looks more likely. I think a balance between the two scenarios is most probable with Soo-hyun playing a limited role but Seoul featuring prominently in the film which leads me to think it will probably do 10.5-11.5M admissions or so.

Most Pokemon movies get released in SK, just a lot later than the release date in Japan. Jirachi-Wish maker which was released in Japan around the mid 2000s only got a theatrical release in Korea during the past year for example. I think your prediction is pretty much head on though maybe upper $1m-2m for me Yes indeed, a great result for Ode to my father. 12M admissions is in play now. Rsyu
Weekend review (01/16-01/18) > Ode to my father came in first for the fifth weekend in a row with 807,309 admissions down just 29.0% from last week. It's ended the week with 11,098,579 admissions making it the 11th most attended film of all time. 12M admissions looks very doable now. It became the 2nd highest grossing/attended film of 2014 during the past week and will definitely enter the top 10 sometime during the upcoming week. > Love forecast, came in second this weekend with a semi respectable score of 677,433 bringing the total to 972,094 admissions. Love Forecast is a romantic comedy film and stars popular celebrities Moon Chae-won and Lee Seung-gi as the main leads. The film plot is as follows: Whenever elementary school teacher Kang Joon-soo (Lee Seung-gi) falls in love, he always gives too much of himself to the relationship. Yet despite that, he ends up being the one getting dumped by his girlfriends. Joon-soo has been friends for 18 years with Kim Hyun-woo (Moon Chae-won), a weather forecaster whose beauty belies her witty tongue and aggressive manner. Audience score is okay with 8.19/10 and it's the best available film for dating couples so legs shouldn't be bad but it won't be anything special either. > Night at the Museum 3 after a close battle with #4 managed to take the third spot for the weekend with 422,346 admissions to bring the opening week total to 555,487. Audience ratings are a decent 8.39/10, the highest of the series but the actual box office numbers are down by a lot. Big Hero 6 should provide fierce competition next week for family audiences. > Chronicle of a blood merchant stars Ha Jung-woo and Ha Ji-won and also marks the directorial début of Ha Jung-woo. The main story line is as follows: Set in a village right after the Korean War, poor but good-hearted Heo Sam-gwan sets out to win the most beautiful girl in the village, Heo Ok-ran, by selling his blood to earn money. Years later, the two are happily married with three children, but their family undergoes a crisis when Sam-gwan's eldest son doesn't resemble him and rumors spread about the boy's paternity. Box office-wise the film doesn't look to be a success but the ratings and general reception is okay so a decent enough start to Ha Jung-woo's directing career. Next week top 5 predictions 01. Gangnam Blues 02. Ode to my father 03. Big Hero 6 04. Love Forecast 05. Night at the museum 3
CelestialFairyIX
I'm uncertain as to how Big Hero 6 will perform, looking at past Disney Animation Studios animated film grossing in the past as Frozen was huge but Wreck-it Ralph, Tangled, Bolt, Princess and the Frog and Meet the Robinsons performed poorly or quite moderately. However, if it does around $15 million USD, I'll be happy. Why so low? Because past films in Disney's Second Renaiisance have not been doing that well in South Korea (Excluding the phenomenon that was Frozen) and because if I set my expectations too high, I know I'll be disappointed, no matter how much I stan for WDAS! Same here, I'm very interested in what kind of box office run Big hero 6 will have. A ground-breaking run like Frozen seems out of the question but maybe a a good enough run to reach the top 10 most attended list is possible. It would be nice if Dreamworks and Ghilbi weren't the only animation studios that could succeed in this market on a regular basis.
