Rsyu, now that Kingsman will pass $35 million this weekend, what is it's endgame? Can it reach $40M, or will tap out around $38-$39M?

Kingsman's run in Korea on a week by week basis looks like this (in admissions):

Week1:    707,113

Week2: 1,629,567 (+130%)

Week3: 1,032,455 (-36.6%)

Week4:    812,639 (-21.3%)

Week5:    600,000 (Projection)

Drops this week have been on average at 26% so the week should finish close to $35 million. So that would be a $3.8 million weekly gross going off on Mojo's numbers ($31.2 million by 3/8). Next week the only big opener that I can see is Cinderella and presales doesn't look promising for it at the current moment in time (although that could yet change). A sub 40% drop in week 6 would put Kingsman at $37.5 million or higher, by which point it should be able to finish fairly near $40 million. WoM has been great so I think there's a fighting chance of it happening.

Damn, Kingsman total will near double the UK gross. That's incredible, WOM must be insane.

It's funny but British themed films and actors/actresses and perhaps the British culture in general is surprisingly popular in Korea, more so in recent years which is maybe why films like Kingsman, About time and Love actually is so widely appreciated, more so than in other international countries.

Thank you Rysu. :)

You're very welcome  ^_^

Rsyu how is the Imitation game doing so far?

Another British themed film with a British actor that's doing very well. It was the 7th most attended film on Saturday with 31,683 admissions ($231K gross). Up to Saturday, during this week it amassed 104,315 admissions and $725K gross. It fell below 10K daily admissions due to new releases and I don't expect much business next week onwards.

It's total currently stands at 1,651,721 admissions and $11.65 million in gross making it the 9th most successful film of 2015 so far.

Whiplash is showing very good word of mouth and will in all likelihood increase over last week. Presales suggest it will be challenging kingsman for the top spot in the box office this week, unless Cinderellla surprises. It also has a 9.14/10.0 audience rating on naver which is a pretty high number.

Kingsman: The Secret Service will move past 5 million admissions today.

Current presales (9AM)

01. 20.1% (24,158) Twenty

02. 17.4% (20,922) Whiplash

03. 16.1% (19,301) Cinderella

04. 12.1% (14,463) Kingsman: The Secret Service

05. 7.2% (8,637) Heartbreak hotel
