Jandrew
Economy. The Economy was nice back in 2007, now for most people it's utter crap.this is probably the best the american economy has been since the downturn in 07/08, look at gas prices, here in sc, its as low as $2.10, hasnt been that low since pre katrina
riczhang
Could MK make it to 40M?That'd be like this year's MiP. Unlikely, but it'd be awesome if it did, even if I didn't like the movie all that much. Always good to see a indie movie succeed.

Jack Nevada
I suspect To Rome with Love has a small budget, as Allen's movies always have. I cant believe MiP was made with 17M.. it looked far more expensive.

Always good to see a indie movie succeed.I'm thinking MK is most definitely this year's MiP and will get the oscar attention like that movie did too, including BP nom. I'm not so sure about Beasts getting anything besides an Actress nod anymore. Its reviews aren't as impressive as MK's, it seems to have a mixed audience response, and it most certainly won't have the box office success MK is having. The weakness of the economy, triggers a slowdown of crude demand in countries all around the world, which drives down the price per barrel of crude, which last week was trading at 77.93 a barrel, which is exceptionally low. This in turn drives down the price of petrol, but at 77 a barrel, consumers may like that they're paying less at the pump, but in fact it's actually a very bad thing, as it means the global economy has not yet fully recovered, and is still pretty bad, and getting worse and is tipping precipitously towards a potential second recession. But I honestly thing Streep has a better chance at getting nominated with her rom com than the girl from Beasts.

cory
2003, 2007 and 2008 (Friday/Wednesday/Friday) were the only years with increases on the 4th in the past 10 years.
riczhang
I think both Beasts and MK will be nominated for BPMaybe if it was last year, but in a year like this, it'll be hard for both beasts and mk to find a place in the BP line up unless a lot of the oscar contenders bomb big time [And even then we know what happens, *cough*EL&IC*cough* ]
MovieMan89
I think both Beasts and MK will be nominated for BPPossible, but if they only go with one of the two because of the competition I definitely think it will be MK now. Better reviews, better audience response, much more commercially successful. Edited July 5, 2012 by MovieMan89
