Yea, I don't get the popularity of SPIDER-MAN movies but not other superheroes. My guess is that Peter Parker is a socially awkward, nice guy who can beat up his bullies and Japanese loves their cute, pretty boy scouts (just like HARRY POTTER, DH2 made tons of money there). I think it has to do with the quasi spider-man japanese show that aired many decades ago. As for superman, well he's fairly popular in Japan, SR did a decent 11 million in 2006 and I think MOS can do about that much or abit more (15 million max).
