Wednesday (7/25/12) Numbers: TDKR @ $13.77m

Recommended Posts

Before TA most of the people on the forum thought it would. After TA opened and made 600+ million, some of the loonies upped their predictions because the TA massively exceeded expectations. Basically whatever TA did, the people that wanted TDKR to rule the summer added whatever number that was enough to beat out TA.

Yeah, before it opened, people had been referring to the Avengers as Iron Man & Friends and as such thought it would only do marginally over Iron Man 1.

The flaw in your judgement is that you think the wom is not as good as tdk because even avengers wom wasnt as good as tdk or else it would have won the attendance record as well. The reality is that the wom accross all places is below tdk but way above bb. I would say as a closer it is on par if not higher than rotk. As an individual movie it is : BB >>>> TDKR >> TDKthis is reflected in all the reviews as well be it user reviews or critics, there have been over 250 critics reviews and over 500,000 user reviews among a number of placesThat would only mean the shooting had a lasting and significant impact not only for this movie but for ga going to theaters in general

The Avengers had a higher attendance than The Dark Knight according to pretty much all sources... even if only by a little bit. Also you put the wrong sign here: BB >>>> TDKR >> TDK. You said batman begins was way better than the other two and TDK was the worst...

Haters busy having a circle jerk over a normal number. Box office analysis just went out the window.

That's kind of hypocritical of you. You were doing the same thing when Spider-man came out IIRC. Edited by Moviefanatic

Sounds like a standart drop to me.. Perhaps on high side...

I think it is a standard drop but people have high expectations for this movie.

Read again, not really as inflation wise tdk was at 175 million and the 3d added 35 million of avengers ow which is 172

And it is going to fall below my predictions. Not comparable.

Well Avengers is still estimated at 77 million while TDK is estimated at 74 million total

Those estimates are wrong for both. 3D boost isn't properly accounted for TA and IMAX isn't properly accounted for TDK. They're both around 71 million when you account for those two things.

Yea TA had more than TDK. Chicago Sun-Times said that TDK and Spidey 3 were around 22 million, while TA was at 25.6 million. That was going off of the 200.3 million estimate Disney gave out.http://www.newsy.com/videos/the-avengers-breaks-multiple-box-office-records/

Slight adjustment:

http://boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?yr=2008&wknd=29&adjust_yr=2012&p=.htm

TDK adjusted

= $174.7 million

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/avengers-marvel-box-office-milestone-joss-whedon-321760

Avengers 3D estimate at $30 million

= $177.4 million w/out 3D
