Weekend Actuals (Taken 2 - 49.5M, Hotel Transylvania - 27.05M)

I'm at work and my daughter's at school today. The bank is closed. Everything else is open. Some schools around the country may still get the day off. Not where I live though. Columbus day is not a holiday for me.

Only down 15%? :o Is it still in Imax?

I think it's going to be in IMAX for two more weeks, then Cloud Atlas will take the screens. After that, TDKR will drop hard. It will fall about a million or so short without an extra push from WB.

TDKR entered discount theaters on Friday, but Frankenweenie took its IMAX screens. Take that as you may.

I'm so confused. It still has 4 showings at my IMAX, and some regular showtimes at the big theaters around here, but it's also playing in a discount theater or two as well.

2012 is ahead of 2010 again, and with the strength of the holiday releases it should stay ahead. It's also slightly below 2010 and 2008 in ticket sales, I feel confident that 2012 will finish ahead of that. I'm saying 2012's final gross will be 10.8 billion, hopefully 2013 can hit 11 billion

TDKR continues to play in most Real IMAX screens. The one here in Lincoln Sqaure continues to sell out the Sat night showing. I went Sat night to see Taken 2 and saw TDKR was sold out.I gave up on 450M... I don't see WB pushing it there either because of the shooting incident being all over the films name.

I think the impact of the shooting went on until Labor Day. Shame we don't know how much the rest of the movies would have done otherwise. TDKR I think would have done 180/475. I'd say based on the last 2 weekends the last slump is over. I think slumps come and go, it's a matter of when the next slump starts

WB isn't pushing it because it's a pretty meaningless number, not because of the shooting incident. It's not a big deal if it falls 1 million short or whatever.

Monday was Thanksgiving in Canada too so that will inflate business for sure. Thanksgiving is always the second Monday in October for us.Here are last year's declines....you can see they are less by about 15-25%.http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/?sortdate=2011-10-10&track=cars2.htm&p=.htm
