Quigley
TDKR and TASM were released on the same day. Both barely passed 50M. But they were only 2 weeks apart in NA. BvS and Cap 3 are 6 weeks apart.
POTUS 2020
Yes.... 300m is the target in China. If it holds well from here, it can still get 1.2B from other markets. So 1.5B is still not dead. This weekend is very crucial. 750 OS-C even with Japan doing 40m has become a big reach with that big OS drop last weekend. Lucky to do 720m 450m dom in doubt 1.15 at best for all other markets China 350m to get to 1,5b
Olive
It's silly to say this OD number is disppointing.. Before F7's huge breakout, everybody was expect TA2 make around $220-250M in China. And it is heading there with current trend, why would FF7's performance have anything to do with TA2's? Lordmandeep
If f7 did not release I think Aou run would be seen with less negativity. People think if a film like fast 7 can do so well aou should do better ww However in retrospect fast 7 has far more mainstream buzz.

#ED
36M already puts it in top 5 OS grosses for TA2. That's impressive.

It is a great run back to back almost 1.5 billion fo Avengers is fantastic! FF7 had a freakiest run due to PW death and having a free run for a month! druv10
Strong OD for TA2. Should be able to get to 1.1B by Sunday and has potential to finish with 2B($322M) in China.
Lordmandeep
I am not sure guys been running numbers and it seems it will finish below 1.5 billion ww.
Quigley
Basically as long as its daily totals stay ahead of Furious 7, it has a chance at $300M. For tomorrow, it must make more than 137M yuan.
BadAtGender
So now China has three of the biggest single-market day records? F7 got Sunday and Monday. AoU got Tuesday. How long before the rest fall?

seduh
great OD for A:AOU. I can't believe that some think this is disappointing. I understand the diss¡appointing in domestic numbers as it came below the original (even after having a huge $313 after only 10 days). But in China it makes more than 35% of what the original made there only in one day (and a Tuesday). It will make over $200 for sure, that is a great number.
fastclock
Universal gets $100M from China on FF7, hardly any.. And they don't have to pay marketing for the movie, which can also be substantial. In the US, it can be 60-80mil easily. Having 25% of the gross without having to pay anything extra is fine for the studios.
TalismanRing
And they don't have to pay marketing for the movie, which can also be substantial. In the US, it can be 60-80mil easily. Having 25% of the gross without having to pay anything extra is fine for the studios. It's not the BO % that really mutes the profit in comparison to US - it's the near lack of ancillary revenue. WSJ last year did an article where $1 in China B.O. is worth about a seventh to a studio as a US box office $ . But then many other territories lag in ancillaries as well. http://www.wsj.com/articles/for-hollywood-not-all-box-office-dollars-are-equal-1409241925 It's still quite a large bit of money studios weren't making when the market was closed.
Quigley
Why is boxoffice.com saying it made $32.48M incl. midnights? How "early" is that estimate?
sfran43
So is it $32.48M or $36M for AOU opening day?
