A Marvel Fanboy
The Last Wish is in danger. In that event, Looking Up, supposedly the fourth contender, will become the biggest summer local film. XO21
I know it's bad to say it, but basically the 2 biggest competitors of Far From Home got cancelled/delayed. 😅

Claudio
And guess who’ll benefit the most from that cancellation!? Yes, TS4, FFH and TLK which are all Disney related at least.... Even the mainland China couldn’t escape from Mickey’s law.
Claudio
Anyone knows why the supposedly this year’s 3 Chinese blockbuster summer released got cancelled or in danger??? iirc , The eight hundred has a controversial soldier thing so I guess it’s because of nationalism subject. Better days has something about patriarchy thing (????) But what’s the problem for The last Wish tho which makes it in danger?

A Marvel Fanboy
Basically what barely made it through the censorship in the previous year will almost certainly be banned in the next year. Neither Youth nor Dying to Survive can make it to theaters if come out this year. The tightening on content is becoming severer by each passing year. lorddemaxus
So is the CCP trying to destroy their country's own film industry? Edited June 24, 2019 by lorddemaxus
A Marvel Fanboy
The most unbelivable and most unknown truth about Chinese censorship is that your film is censored by not only the Department of Propaganda but also every ministerial-level department. That means, if your movie takes place on a train, it will be firstly censored by China Railway Corporation (you read it right). Most of time, the DOP or its superior (guess who) has the final word though. And guess what? there are over 100 ministerial-level units in China—maybe more, I couldnot count. Even the Buddhist Association of China can kill your film. It is widely spreaded Better Days was killed by Ministry of Education。 3 4

Destroying or developing the film industry is never the foremost concern to CCP. The film industry exists in China only because it helps with or serves CCP's ruling. The same applies to every other industry, big or small. And when there is controversy, no matter what it is, it is not helping. What is better than controversy is there is no controversy. Godzilla
This is so wrong. Censorship is disgusting. Also it shows how vulnerable things are in China right now that they’re worried about movies lol.

That's ironical considering how they tried to save it from Hollywood with all those limitations on release, etc.
