they are keeping movies in theatres as long as they keep making money. Did the same with Puss in Boots, Detective Conan and One Piece. However, the showings for Avatar 2 will likely drop to less than 500 with the arrival of new films in February.

From what they're saying here the WOM has never been bad, it just wasn't the upbeat CNY blockbuster that usually wins the frame, now it's leveraging good wom away from the festival.

there is close to 12 new films coming to Chinese theatres in 7 days time. Hope and pray that they all get delayed somehow.
