Both TF3 and TF4 doubled from previous entries. This is opening 3 years after last one and Transformers movies have always been uber popular in china wouldn't TF5 benefit from tremendous expansion in screen count since last one?

Doubling TF4 will give TF5 a gargantuan, unthinkable $640M gross.

Mermaid is a $500M grosser but that is just a perfect storm of timing,

novelty and the drought of a good local entertainment.

TF5 must have some serious trick up its sleeve

to earn that kind of number.

Screen count up 160% will make the OW way larger. The BO is up 50% since June 2014 which could bring it to 3B. Anything more will have to be an expansion of the fanbase.

overall growth has tapered but movies that has interest definitely has good potential. I see most movies have very low occupancy because of lack of interest. TF movies have always shown great support and so potential is higher. I was surprised when TF4 doubled despite new star cast(domestically it dropped 30%).

Hollywood movies have dominated chinese BO and we have had Avatar, TF4 and F7 breaking all time records. So Mermaid is definitely not the ceiling.

Can someone tell me what the official final numbers were for Resident Evil? I know it's over $161 million and 1112 million yuan, but is there official numbers anywhere?

Edit: Found this gross, is this an accurate site?

$161,294,600

A lot of sites don't get XR right. That one looks close enough.

I have ¥1112m. The average XR was 6.89.  $161.39m
