85th Academy Awards (24/2/13) Official Thread- TONIGHT!! NOMINEES IN THE FIRST POST

Have you seen Snow White?

Yes. Hemsworth had some good action scenes. I didn't go into it hoping for a good movie. I was forced to go with my wife. It had good visual effects, but doesn't explain why TDKR wasn't nominated instead. Edited by Edward

Perhaps. Snobbish though is your stubborn opinion on Rises effects, without knowing what was or wasn't a visual effect. If you can't tell what is what, then doesn't that mean they did an amazing job? If you can tell most of the visual effects shots in Snow White, then how is that incredible effects?

Quoting myself

Rises had a massive city skyline shot of buildings being destroyed and explosions going off. Explosions in that shot were actually real, then digitally compositioned into the shot. Building destruction was CGI. Most impressive was a huge number of CGI buildings in that skyline shot. At 16K resolution in IMAX, in a daylight shot, it looked completely real.

But its not like we've never seen stuff like that before, right? And probably done as good. VFX Oscar should go to innovation, movies that do something new.
