70th Golden Globes - Discussion Thread (Winners in 1st Post)

Regarding Affleck's snub, remember that only Directors vote for Director nominations, whereas everyone votes for the Director winner.

There's a shoehorn effect though, the entire Aademy and Guild will now go, "OMFG Argo's not a good movie, let's not vote for it."

Ratings are up double digits this year, meaning Fey/Poehler will be back next year! http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tv-ratings-golden-globes-poised-412135

That has more to do with the films nominated imo. Gervais was not the problem. The films last year were.

Whatever the odds, Affleck addressed the snub in the most charming way. he said "I was snubbed for Best Actor but nobody`s talking about that snub, ha,ha,ha." LOL, that`s brilliant.Around 10:25 mark. LMAO!

George Clooney is about the coolest guy on the planet. He just says all the right things. He's so quick to heap praise on people and he's so well spoken. I love the guy.

I'm not sure if you guys remember back in 1998-98 when people said that Affleck probably didn't really write any of GWH...that he was just riding Matt's coattails.....no one is saying that anymore.

Smooth as butter. Made the transition from television to film. I remember him from Roseanne as the supervisor, lol. Way before he got famous on ER.

No one's talking about Pearl Harbor, Gigli or Daredevil anymore either. :)

I doubt that. They may already be disposed to say awarding Lincoln, but they're not suddenly going to drop any previous affection for Argo. DGA history does indicate examples of contrary behavior to your claim.

Clooney is a smug bastard. He same some good moments but he knows almost everyone loves him :rolleyes:As for the directing Oscar, it's one of those weird year like 2000 (01?) where anyone could take it. I'm calling a zeitlin upset.
