Year 6 Actuals

Recommended Posts

I am working on it. But I do want everyone to understand that if there is any delay between months, it is not because I'm not working on it, but because I have a lot on my plate in addition to working on it. But I will commit myself to doing the entire year in as speedy a pace as I can manage. Hopefully, I'll get the next few months up soon.

I want the actuals only to see if Rigger will cross 100M so I can start partying.

As of the end of February, my calculations have Rigger somewhere between 98-102 million, depending on how generous Ueka is with weekdays. So it will definitely be past 100m by the end of March's first weekend.

Ueka gave it lots of good weekend holds

March 4-6: "Magical Pineapple Grants Exchange Top Spot"

In a decently hustling weekend, rom-com "The Improper Exchange" plopped into first. The comedy, centerred around a body switch that results from a magical pineapple, opened to 27.8 million from 5,500 screens at 3,403 locations. It was the first major comedy of the year, but awareness wasn't high enough to push it into the upper level of expecations, which set the film for a 35-45 million debut. It still fell in line with studio expecations, and word of mouth is mostly positive, averaging a B rating on Cinemascore. Females made up 62% of the audience. Also debuting this weekend, sci-fi murder mystery "Isolation" enterred deep space at second, perhaps a more shallow space zone like the movie implies. The Liam Neeson mystery drama debuted to 24.3 million, garnering an A- from Cinemascore and Yahoo ratings alike. Word of mouth is strong with this one, and its daily holds over the weekend reflect a sense of longevity. The film took number one on Sunday.Among holdovers, most drops were pretty average, with "Love Song" leading the rest of the pack with just under 9 million. Overall attendance was up strongly from last weekend, and as we approach the spring season, we look forward to an increase in attendance.

    [*]The Improper Exchange: 27,829,191 (NEW) [*]Isolation: 24,335,859 (NEW) [*]Love Song: 8,981,271 (2nd week) -42.90% [*]Pokemon: The Champion's Gift: 7,639,817 (4th week) -42.12% [*]The Story of Daniel Rigger: 4,612,064 (6th week) -35.50% [*]Things Not Seen: 4,202,029 (3rd week) -37.10% [*]Unbalanced 3: 3,759,060 (4th week) -47.67% [*]A Warning to the Curious: 2,571,001 (3rd week) -36.04% [*]Minotaur 3D: 2,383,718 (2nd week) -61.92% [*]Murder at the Superbowl: 2,252,033 (5th week) -38.52%

March 11-13: "Audiences Aren't Hooked on Screwtape Letters"

Touted as the event Christian flick of the year (and perhaps it is), "The Screwtape Letters" was aiming for a 30 million or higher opening. Instead, it fell flat with 21.8 million. It still managed to claim first place on the uncrowded weekend, but it was not the center of attention this week. Instead, "Isolation" garnered more attention, as the sci-fi starring Liam Neeson eased only 27.9% in its second frame, for a remarkable 17.5 million. This is the second film Neeson has appeared in this quarter that has shown incredible staying power, the first being "Daniel Rigger" which has already eclipsed 100 million. "Isolation" could follow suit. Horror film "The Enigma" opened on the average end of expecations, with a solid, but unspectacular, 15.9 million in third. Rom-com "The Improper Exchange" phased well, down just over 46% for a second weekend haul of 15 million and a running ten day tally of almost 50 million. Audiences mostly sat this frame out, perhaps waiting for next week's "Uncharted", which is set to be the biggest blockbuster of the spring season.

    [*]The Screwtape Letters: 21,839,822 (NEW) [*]Isolation: 17,546,059 (2nd week) -27.90% [*]The Enigma: 15,859,049 (NEW) [*]The Improper Exchange: 15,012,833 (2nd week) -46.05% [*]Love Song: 5,586,817 (3rd week) -37.79% [*]Pokemon: The Champion's Gift: 4,662,181 (5th week) -38.98% [*]The Story of Daniel Rigger: 2,952,065 (7th week) -36.00% [*]Things Not Seen: 2,739,850 (4th week) -34.80% [*]Unbalanced 3: 1,691,083 (5th week) -55.01% [*]A Warning to the Curious: 1,451,228 (4th week) -43.56%

March 18-20: "Uncharted Tops The Charts"

It was a huge success. After pulling only 3.5 million from midnights, there was some worry over whether "Uncharted" could top expecations, but when its Friday figure came in at 24 million, it became evident that it would. "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" posted the highest opening weekend of the year, with a stellar 71.3 million gross. The total eclipsed even the highest of expecations, which set the film on a path for an upper 60 million gross. The film was off to a good start, especially with early positive reception, averaging a B+ on Cinemascore. Males made up 61% of the audience, and people aged 18-24 accounted for 57%. "Honey Boo-Boo" did not make quite the splash. The spoiled brat wound up in sixth place. The movie about her competing against a Mexican drug cartel garnered the worst reviews of the year so far, yet it caught the attention of enough people to earn 7.1 million, a respectable total for a film of its caliber. That said, Honey Boo-Boo is kicking and screaming because she couldn't top "Uncharted." Meanwhile, "Isolation" continues to wow, holding on steady with another 2nd place finish for the third time in a row, with 11.6 million. "Screwtape Letters" and "The Enigma" each dipped over 50%, but they had respectable totals of 10.3 and 7.6 million, respectively. And "The Improper Exchange" continues to chug along, stabilizing with another 8.6 million in 4th. Overall, a very solid week.

    [*]Uncharted: Drake's Fortune: 71,328,903 (NEW) [*]Isolation: 11,626,830 (3rd week) -33.74% [*]The Screwtape Letters: 10,303,049 (2nd week) -52.82% [*]The Improper Exchange: 8,581,829 (3rd week) -42.84% [*]The Enigma: 7,644,062 (2nd week) -51.80% [*]Honey Boo-Boo Makes a Movie: 7,121,833 (NEW) [*]Love Song: 3,731,993 (4th week) -33.20% [*]Pokemon: The Champion's Gift: 2,591,833 (6th week) -44.41% [*]Things Not Seen: 1,887,049 (5th week) -31.13% [*]The Story of Daniel Rigger: 1,802,101 (8th week) -38.95%

March 25-27: "More Fortune For Uncharted"

"Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" continues to be the event picture of the spring season. The film was expected to drop at least 50-55% this week, yet it held much better than that. Down less than 46%, the motion picture event added an additional 38.6 million, well enough to place first over a pair of dusty openers. "Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Promise" didn't reach the heights it could have. With a lax promotional campaign and low public awareness, the film fizzled out with only 23.4 million, which was in line with expecations but still a disappointing start, despite its low budget. And teen comedy "Senior Citizens" started off well with 14.6 million. "Isolation" continues to maintain speed, adding an addition 8 million, while "The Screwtape Letters" was down again to 5.5 million, rounding out the top five. "Paddles: The Video Game Story" climbed into the top ten after going wide to over 1,000 locations, adding 2 million to its gross and topping the poor "Honey Boo-Boo" who sunk over 70% in her second week.

    [*]Uncharted: Drake's Fortune: 38,560,381 (2nd week) -45.94% [*]Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Promise: 23,402,926 (NEW) [*]Senior Citizens: 14,591,033 (NEW) [*]Isolation: 7,976,005 (4th week) -31.40% [*]The Screwtape Letters: 5,461,722 (3rd week) -46.99% [*]The Improper Exchange: 5,051,265 (4th week) -41.14% [*]The Enigma: 4,110,976 (3rd week) -46.22% [*]Love Song: 2,310,850 (5th week) -38.08% [*]Paddles: The Video Game Story: 2,022,896 (4th week – wide) +187.40% [*]Honey Boo-Boo Makes a Movie: 1,964,201 (2nd week) -72.42%

Liam Neeson continues his domination. Rigger will end up at 115-118 million. Isolation is at 76-78 million and should end up around 95-100 million (depending on how it holds in April).
