Weekend Discussion: IM3 @ 175.3m wknd est

Your ticket estimate for New Moon is over a million higher than BOM. How did you come up with that?

I'll have to take a deeper look at it, but I'd guess that the 2009 4th quarter price listed and used to extrapolate NM's ticket sales on BOM has a stronger influence from 3D prices than the first three quarters of 2009 do, which would cause them to underestimate it.  Just a guess though, as I said, I'll have to look into it.

I'm getting ~18.3M tickets sold (16.5M IMAX, 45% overall 3D), about 10% higher than IM2's OW attendance, slightly behind DH2, which makes sense, given 2 years of inflation.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of boost this gets for the overall gross, and then compare it to the increases we see from CA -> CA2 and Thor -> Thor 2, to get an idea of "Dat Avengers Effect"

It's kind of amazing how there's nearly a $50M OW difference between IM2 and IM3, and yet they both had nearly the same attendance levels. Goes to show you how ticket prices have skyrocketed in the past couple years.

I have an idea, why don't we, instead of starting a new weekend thread every Friday, why don't we have an Official Weekend Discussion thread for every weekend? Like we do with Weekend Predictions and Crowd Reports?

That would make it way too cluttered IMO.

I think every weekend deserves its own thread. If we had one for all weekends, it would be at 800 pages before you know it and impossible to follow.

Biggest of the year. I was in Wisconsin this last weekend. I stayed in town called dodgeville and it had best BBQ I have ever had. if ever near there you should go to Bob's Bitching BBQ.

I'll have to remember that, these days I get as far west in the state as Madison or north in the state.

I don't know how they figure it but BOM has it at #4 on the weekend tickets list.
