  1. 5M on 290 screens isn't that great, but its overall opening wasn't that great either.
  2. I would have to go with Culkin as well, but he's an adult now. Still, though, he would be the best fitted for The Hunger Games.
  3. This has become easy. In. How much, I don't know. I will say $25M midnights for now.
  4. The question really is can Lorax hit $300M... Insane to ponder that. And, even more insane would be if both THG and Lorax hit $300M.Two $300M films in March!!!
  5. Well, if The Lorax can open to $70M, this only makes me wonder what we are in store for when a certain movie called The Hunger Games opens up.
  6. Yah, I think if certain choice blockbusters get nominated, next years show will have the second highest ratings, only behind Titanic.
  7. I'm pretty surprised by the ratings. With $30M in BO hardly anyone saw The Artist, so I wonder what made everyone tune in.
  8. I think Brave is missing from your list. If Pixar manages another masterpiece, expect a BP nom. Though, after Cars 2 and early WOM on Brave, I do have some fears, but, hey, it's Pixar, you never know what they will pull off.
  9. Um, no. It is in no way an advantage being a silent film. That was a risk, and I don't think the director had any thought of winning BP when making the film. I'm sure that when it starting getting all the awards that it came as a huge surprise. One doesn't make a silent film expecting it to win BP.
  10. I don't think The Artist was a gimmick or Oscar bait, and it winning was amazing. And, here are my reasons.1) B&W--first, it is hard for a B&W film to get a BP nom. It doesn't happen often. Last B&W winner was Schindler's List2) Silent film--When was the last time that the Academy went gaga over silent films--um, like 100 years ago. Okay, more like 84, but you get the point.3) French--This was technically a foreign film and not some American studio made film. Thus, making it more impressive.4) Indie film--Okay, we've had a few indie winners before, but still, it's impressive when one takes the show.Yes, the Weinstein's got behind the film, but I believe that was after it was a finished product. Say what you want, but The Artist winning is pretty dang impressive, and in my opinion, it is one of the best films of 2011.
  11. I'm in, but I don't know what to put for midnights. I will say $22M just for the heck of it.
  12. 2012 looks like it can be an exciting year, but I'm counting on Lincoln winning big.Anyway, glad The Artist won. I felt it was a very good movie that gets more hate than it deserves because it is a B&W silent film.
  13. Hugo isn't winning any more awards. Anyway, I feel Hugo was locked for the wins it got including Cinematography. Still though, big upset by Dragon Tattoo.
  14. I think Tree of Life gets snubbed and Hugo takes Cinematography.Anyway, I feel this is a pretty predictable year. The Artist will win both BP and BD.
  15. The problem is that IMAX is hard to track past OW. IMAX rarely reports numbers beyond OW, and sometimes they won't even mention the OW of films if it is very low such as Mars Needs Moms.
  16. No backlash BK, The Artist wasn't even nominated.
  17. This looks like the official trailer to me. http://<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JNuGC6c02Pc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Can someone tell me how to embed a YouTube video in here? I forgot how. Never mind, this is the old trailer from two months ago. For some reason, I must have missed seeing it until now.
  18. GR2 is right in line with expectations. I think the moment since it was announce, this was the OW we were all predicting it to make. I mean, I know there were some fanboyish predicts, but most of us were realistic. There really was no reason to make this film.Anyway, it was expected to flop, so no surprise here.
  19. lol at GR. I guess we all expected it to bomb. Actually, its opening is decent for what it is.And, for Arriety, I am super happy. That is actually a very strong number for this kind of film.
  20. I think 25ish sounds right. The Artist hasn't even cracked $30M yet and everyone knows it will win. Plus there is no Inception, Toy Story 3 or Avatar nominated this year.
  21. That is a great number OS. It looks like it will do better OS than DOM. So, chances are super good that it hits $1B WW.
  22. TPM's performance is not bad, but not great either. The Clone Wars movie opened to $15M and went on to make $35M. BatB opened to $22M over a 4-Day period. So, overall, I would say Lucasfilm is pleased and the other 5 movies are on their way to 3D.With that said, what makes its BO look lackluster is that the other three openers are performing way above expectations. 2012 is off to a good strong start.
